Not good teaching
Fizzy Meniscus

The quizzes presume knowledge that has not been explained, forcing one to guess at an answer randomly. This does not help reinforce learning the actual information. The lesson should be saying explicitly what information it wants the student to learn.

Alright learning experience

TL;DR The app could benefit from a complete UI overhaul and more transparency with the in-app purchases. As of now the UI is cramped and not design for any iPhone X series screen sizes and the in-app purchases are vague about if they are other ways to unlock the courses, especially if you pay for their web services. So an average learning experience. The lessons I have covered so far are comprehensive, but these are the beginner lessons. With someone that has a little background in programming from another language, I wish there was a way to test out of these lessons. The one lesson I did take that was beginner, but I didn’t have any experience with was a nice experience. It was a different learning experience but enjoyable. The content of each lesson is comprehensive, as stated, and would make any beginner feel comfortable learning. Once I get to more complex topics, I will be updating this review to reflect what I think. The main reason(s), only two reasons I have, this app is three stars is because the touch and drag interface of the app looks like it hasn’t seen an update in a long time. What I mean is the boxes and handles you touch to drag to solve problems in the lesson look like they are still running on an iPhone 7 screen size and it isn’t the most responsive on an iPhone XS Max screen. This is definitely something they could take advantage off and make the app feel more comfortable with the bigger screens introduce with the iPhone X series. The UI is also slightly lackluster and was a bit confusing when I first opened the app. After spending a bit of time with the UI I was able to figure out how to do most of my basic functions I needed. To wrap up my first complaint, this app could gain a star just by having a junior Dev or two go through this app and update it for current iPhone sizes to make the responses feel better and not have such a cramped screen space. The next “big” complaint I have is the micro transactions within the app. I understand this is suppose to be a complement app to Zenva’s online courses, so it seems a bit weird that you have to separately buy course if you have subscribed to their course on their website. It could be that they do make the courses free once you start the sister course on their website, but I’m not 100% sure. This section will be updated once I figure out the answer. To kinda continue what I stated, there is a in-app currency that you get each day you complete a lesson within the app. So you could save up your currency to buy new lessons, but I’m not sure if the app will give you this credit if you finish a section of the course that was already completed. If this whole idea of the app was made more transparent in how it worked, this could easily gain another star. But this, here, is another time expensive update to this app. A junior Dev could be able to do this, but it will just take time as I am fundamentally asking for a rework of the whole app; which can be an unreasonable request to make, but I believe it is needed for this app to really shine. I hope the developers will take the time to read this app review and hopefully consider what was said. I understand making apps, anything programming really, is hard. I first cut my teeth on learning how to make apps and don’t have a passion to pursue it, so that’s why I’m learning instead how to make games as I have a passion for games and I enjoy programming. So thank you for the time you have already spent just by making the app and the courses. I appreciate the work you have done, even if it doesn’t sound like it. I just happen to think construction criticism will be more beneficial here than glazing this review with faux praises. Again thank you for spending so much time on making this a reality!!

Waste of time/ do not use

You really try to charge money for like 3 bullet points of very vague descriptions?! This app is a rip-off and just plain garbage.

Is good

Good app

Cool App(like duo lingo for programming)
Bardocak

This app makes learning programming easy in an easy to follow fashion that is similar to how Duolingo works for language learning. I like it so far. It’s great especially if you are already somewhat familiar with programming and what to get familiarized with new syntax for another language.

First time using an app to learn coding
Darklycraft

My experience has been no other but excellent. Everything it’s easy to grasp the GUI it’s very intuitive. The classes are very well designed “You really learn what it teaches you.” Thanks a lot!

Really great app for learning
Hiyat

I think this app is wonderful. You use coins to open the next level but you earn coins for completing a level too. You can watch videos to earn coins and you get coins for opening the app every day. There is something you get for maintaining a streak of completing a lesson a day for a few days in a row (but I don't know what because I usually do a few lessons in a day and then skip a day or two and come back). So basically, there is no reason why one is not able to finish this app...lol. The lessons are bite-size and easy to keep up with. Seriously, check this app out. You will like it a lot ?

Nice, but needs updating
Guitar Beginner!

I started using it for Python. I was really enjoying it. But, when I got to Strings chapter, I noticed that the print statement was for Python 2. I assume the rest of the chapters will be like that. It was a buzz kill for me because I was hoping the content was Python 3.

Waste of time

Everything in this app can easily be learned with a google search. This would be fine but every lesson costs coins that you can only obtain by watching several ads or paying money.

Fun for the first day
