Radio mode is amazing

mziemba

This is seriously the best language app I have ever used. I spam sentences on radio mode which you can configure to play a sentence and it’s translation over and over. It’s like Glossika only with vastly more sentences (and much cheaper).

Decks aren’t the same on the website

La Du Zi

I’m referring to the Japanese decks. The pro decks don’t show up on the app! There’s no point in me paying for pro if I can’t even use the feature I want to on the app. This goes for the android version as well. I use this app on my iPad and my Xperia (Android) and in both cases pro is pretty useless. The reason I want the pro decks is because the normal collections are way too huge to learn at a reasonable speed imo. I use this app for Chinese too and it use useful because the deck sizes are smaller, so I think it deserves 4 stars. The Japanese issue with the decks has been present for a few years if I remember correctly btw.

Always an interesting mystery to see if the app will actually load.

At last!

I’ve wanted a language app that keeps me engaged ever since I decided to study Italian. I’ve tried others, but they’ve been too simplistic, too limited, and too gimmicky. Clozemaster can be set up to exactly match your skill level, from absolute beginner to advanced. You can choose multiple-choice, text only, or even audio-only modes, and you can get hints if you’re struggling. I have spent too much time arranging numbers in boxes and flinging birds at pigs. Now I spend that time learning, and it feels like play. It’s set up so that, as I attain new levels, the quizzes are more challenging and more rewarding. The Italian database has 240,000 sentences, so it’s unlikely I’ll run out of things to learn. I m so pleased I found this app.

Not support Split View/Slide Over

kientran889

The app is good, based on cloze tests. But the thing that annoys me most is I can’t split view the app to use 2 apps at the same time. Cmon it even has UI designed for iphone version and landscape view for ipad.

Greek speech does not work

What an amazing app

I wish I could explain to every language learner I ever meet how great this app is. The religion system is fantastic, it is so simple, the number of language opportunities is immense. Clozemaster offers such an effective and simple way to learn one of the most important and vital aspects of a language—learning words! I love so much that there are leaderboards—both weekly and all-time. This really makes this app shine. The fact that this app is free almost isn’t fair. I’m a poor college student, and I feel the need to donate because of how great the app is. Please give it a try! The two suggestions I have is one, the ability to see a full leaderboard between you and the top 10, and secondly, the ability to see stats for every language. For example, how many people are studying it daily, weekly, monthly, total, etc. I think it would be really fun to compare! Other stats like how many people total are on Clozemaster for a language would be cool.

Excellent Intermediate language learning tool

StTeilo

It is great to use after Duolingo. It definitely helps with reading comprehension. The downside is that, like most language learning apps, it uses traduction to train you. Then again, it’s hard to test your knowledge of a language at this stage otherwise. Use it alongside immersion. That’s the best way to use any language learning software.

Excellent for intermediate and advanced learners

JigokuShoujoXIV

Are you looking to advance past the upper beginner level of expertise on Duolingo? There’s an option to chose up to 50,000 words on Clozemaster. 50,000!! This is the perfect app to pick up where you left off from in Duolingo and become more fluent. You learn words in context of sentences. Everything you need is free. There are no useless time limitations, annoying ads, or pressure to upgrade. I can’t believe I didn’t find this sooner. My only minor gripe is that I wish the voice quality was a little better, it sound slightly robotic. But it’s better than most apps and I can understand it just fine. It’s so hard to find an app that can teach to such an advanced level. Most other vocabulary apps stop around 3,000 words (while charging an arm and a leg for a monthly subscription at that). This may not be as well polished aesthetically as the language Drops app, which is often touted as the best vocabulary app. But Clozemaster is leagues ahead in terms of volume of words (50,000?!?!). Plus it has the ability to teach sentence building. You can truly become fluent using this alone. I don’t mind the retro Atari looking graphics of this app. I find it cute actually. But something tells me that’s what is stopping more people from trying it, since people are used to the more polished looks of apps like Drops and Duolingo. I wish more people knew about Clozemaster.

Unquestionably useful!

For intermediate to upper intermediate, Clozemaster drills you with full sentences. It is the perfect training tool that prepares you to start reading longer texts and later, book-length material. I used it casually for a few weeks. I am pleasantly surprised to notice that, as I use it more regularly, my recollection becomes better, and the space repetition really helps. The $60/year is well worth it to better track my progress. A huge thanks to the developers! Keep it up, as we, intermediate Mandarin Chinese learners, really need you!
