Eh... a few problems....

Celyet

On one hand, I think this is a good idea for an app, and probably over 50% of the sentences are helpful. On the other hand, as some others have mentioned, some sentences are heavily idiomatic, and in a way where I’m not sure if they’re really used that way in the target language (eg “she’s really cold hearted” and a... shakespeare quote? The mandarin translations of those don’t really look like mandarin idioms...) Additionally, while I double checked that I selected Mandarin, not Mandarin (Traditional), I swear some traditional characters start sneaking in, like I’ve seen 什麼 instead of 什么. Which makes this a lot harder as reading practice!

Don’t even know how I’m learning but I am.

Clozemaster + yomichan + quizlet is all I need now. And immersion of course. Wasted so much money in the past on lessons and software. CM is the best. Thank you!

Honestly? It’s amazing

I’m a polyglot and a language enthusiast and have been for over 15 years. I’ve played with this app for 30 minutes and already prefer it to many of the popular apps. Yes, this can be difficult to start but trust me, learning through sentences is much better than vocabulary flash cards. That doesn’t mean you should drop your vocabulary studies, it just means this is very much worth your time. I will keep updating this review as I mess with it more. I understand there will be bugs and let that slip of course until the app has been officially finished and polished. Thank you guys for creating this. Big fan :)

Brilliant!

Doctus

Great fun, format that really solidifies the languages. One of top 3 language apps ever.

Bad robot voice

bachlva

I’ve used this app for months on Android and on the web. Got a new iPhone and only this version of the app has this horrible robot voice. It’s seriously so bad. Uninstalling and will only use the web version. I’m sad.

Good for some, poor for others

Skittlfram

Not a bad helper for language learning, but not great. If you're well into learning a language and just want some practice or if your mind is exceptionally good at picking up new lamguades, this is a good tool. If you are just starting to learn a language tho, this will help very little. Clozemaster is not designed to help someone who is just beginning.

Great pair to Duolingo

bonesmalons

This app works well, and is a great pair to duolingo once you’re in the later lessons. 我想提高我的汉语水平!

Impressive update!

Clozemaster just got updated today and the automated voices sound clear now...It no longer sounds like Stephen Hawking’s computer...It also no longer looks like a Commodore 64 game...thanks for the improvements!

Text input glitch

restaurantpattybob

Clozemaster works wonders in helping me learn languages of my choice. Lately, however, there has been a glitch in text input mode. Whenever I enter an answer, I get my points as normal, but the screen goes blank with a green bar above it, and I have to exit and start a new lesson to answer the next question. I currently prefer using multiple choice with Japanese, and fortunately, the glitch does not occur in that mode. On the other hand, I prefer text input with Spanish, so I cannot enjoy my Spanish language learning on Clozemaster as much as I used to until this glitch is fixed.

Came here from Ikenna

Also I think it is great that this app includes constructed languages like Esperanto and Toki Pona with a very wide selection of natural languages as well
