Classroom Organizer

The Classroom Organizer IOS app works in conjunction with Booksource's Classroom Organizer web application to allow educators to organize and track books in their classroom library. The app features barcode scanning functionality to eliminate the need to manually enter ISBN numbers for books. Our extensive database searches the scanned books to find the title of each book, again, eliminating the need to manually type this information.

The Classroom Organizer app is an affordable alternative to purchasing a typical USB scanner. With the Classroom Organizer app educators can simply walk around their classroom and scan each book via their IOS device.

Check your progress as books are scanned by using the "Manage Library" function of the app. View the title, cover image (if available) as well as quantity of a title that has been added. Quickly find items by sorting books by title or quantity. Add your students’ names by using “Manage Students.” Select “Add New Student” for a new student name or choose an existing name from the list to edit or delete. This will be the list of students who are able to check out from the classroom library. To check out a book, choose “Check Out”, select a student name and scan the book.
We've also included the ability to assign locations to books as they are added to a Classroom Organizer account. Simply create locations and choose a location before adding a book to your library. The selected location is maintained until a new selection is made. This allows for quick scanning of multiple books in a single location.

Unreliable

Every time I close the app and reopen it, I have to log back in. Not a big deal right? WRONG! I have to reset my password every time. I don’t have time for this.

Mostly great for free app!

I have been using this for over 6 years and not much has changed. I have over 1,000 books in my library and love that this helps me track what I have. What I would love to see is a way to take inventory at the end of the year by scanning the books still on the shelves and showing a report of the books that escaped my classroom.

Don’t bother

This app is not functional as far as I can tell. Why aren’t apps that are no longer being developed even on the App Store? What a waste of my time.

Free and functional- what’s not to like?

I’m not sure why there are so many haters for this app. I was just able to add ten books to my classroom library in one minute through the scanning feature. Sure, it’s basic (the website is much more developed), but it’s a free, incredibly functional tool. What’s not to like?

Great in concept but the buggiest app I’ve used

I’m using this to manage my classroom library. It constantly a)glitches and closes out b) tells me my teacher login is incorrect. Literally have to change my password every time I sign into it, even if I hit save credentials. C) doesn’t let me sort my students on the checkout menu in an easy way. I have 150 students and like 5 Ethans. I’d rather select a reading group and then select the name. If it worked consistently and correctly, I’d love this app. It’s everything I need in what it should do, but I’ll probably switch back to paper and pencil tracking my library.

Slow process in the classroom

I use this app to manage my classroom library. The biggest complaint that I have, as well as some of my fellow teachers, is the check in/ check out process takes a lot of precious time. To check out, you are able to scan the code on the book. But to check in, you have to search for the book the student is returning. One feature that I think would be great to have is the ability to create student “library cards” that can be scanned instead of scrolling through the list of students. In a second grade class, I don’t have time to waste hunting for student names and book titles. I would gladly print, cut and laminate to speed up process. It would be time and sanity saving!

The app

I like this app, but when I go to a different app or I just close out the app, I have to log back in. I know my passwords and when I put my passwords in it ALWAYS says that it’s not right. I send the e-mail to me to reset the password. When I do it still says that the password I put in is wrong. I don’t like to have to log in every time I open the app.

Cool but confusing
andriscoll

The app crashes often and glitches when attempting to manually add titles. You also sign in with 2 different passwords on the app/online. The app asks for your teacher password while online requires your classroom password. This all gets very confusing when dealing with all of the other nuances of being a teacher. Great concept but needs a lot of work.

Not helpful

This app could not find MANY of the books I scanned. Deleted and looking for a new one.

Not bad

I like the app, though I have experienced some glitches. When entering a new student, the last name initial doesn’t take unless you update the student. I wish there was a way to return a book by looking for the title as opposed to the name of the student who checked it out. Like an actual library, my students drop off their books in the book return and I don’t necessarily remember who had what book. I can return it through the computer, but it defeats the point of the app.
