High Marks Indeed

This app has all the features I’ve ever wanted in a chord analyzer app, with a uniquely intuitive functionality/interface that is beyond anything I’d have ever thought to want. Meaning, it does what it says it’ll do, and more, better. *Sadly, it works only with songs owned by you, sans DRM, uploaded to your Mac’s iTunes, and synced with your iPhone and Apple Music account. That leaves a lot of music—all acquired and owned legally—not compatible with this app. Meaning, it works with only an extremely small set of songs.

Don’t waste your time or data. Get Chord AI instead.

dirtyJesusHippieManson

With this app you can only use songs that you have created or music that doesn’t have any copyrights. So nothing from YouTube or other music streaming apps. Also, only piano and guitar chords are displayed. Chord AI’s free version comes with one extra instrument’s chords; piano, guitar and the ukulele(gCEA). Chord AI recognizes more chords right out the gate. Oh, I should mention that Chord AI allows you to upload any song from YouTube, Apple Music and other music streaming apps, as well as from your own recordings. Even the copy-written music works with Chord AI. Chord AI allows you to save the songs and the chords it has discovered for later, offline use.

Most Songs Blocked from Analysis

yddaddab

Most Songs on Apple iTunes are Blocked from Analysis which is quite frustrating. This make this app extremely limited in its use and sadly not worth downloading. For the songs which are not block is seems to do a fairly accurate job of analyzing the chord progressions in that song. Understanding that the restrictions are of no fault of this app it would be nice to know this in the product description.

Amazing!

I have searched more than 8 apps to detect the chords and this one is the most accurate and easy to use. Most importantly, it’s free. Highly recommended!

Excellent, but please and button for Bb and Eb instruments

Beej Artistic Neophyte

I realize that it is geared to keyboards and guitars, but it would be nice if there was Bb and Eb instrument notation transcription for horn players. We need to practice playing over the changes, and if the chords shown were keyed to our instruments that would be greatly helpful. There is a transpose feature, but it actually transposes the audio, too, which is only helpful when you want to play in a different concert key. So I request a button that would change the notation for each instrument key. C, Bb, Eb, and why not throw F in there for the those horns, too:)

Worked for a while

Rugbyskin

With newest iOS update almost no songs are “selectable”.

Dropbox doesn’t seem to be working

Great app. Dropbox doesn’t seem to be working. Correction:Dropbox is working. 5 stars

User songs

Eolian1

Finally! A way to import my own music! BUT: once a song is imported into “User Songs”, it is apparently lost. Until you go to import it again... then you are asked if you want to overwrite it...

Over All useful.

I play the piano, organ, bass and drums, all by ear, at my church. I am very well acquainted with music. I use this app when I don’t really have time to sit down and 100% dissect a song and see exactly what chords the artist is using in their song. This gives me the extreme very basic chords. It would be GREAT if this was more advanced than just giving the major and minor and the occasional diminished chords that it picks out. Major 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th would be absolutely amazing! But I do feel like the 9th on would be difficult to detect. Anyway this app is not 100% accurate. Even after the update so just be warned this app will get you relatively close to what the song is doing but you have to use some music theory to ‘translate’ what it’s saying to do. It would be great if with in the app you could change the key with out effecting the tempo. But over all if you’re just starting out this app does have what you’d need to play along with the song or even memorize the chord progressions.
