Choice of the Star Captain is the hilarious interactive science-fiction novel where your choices determine how the story proceeds. The game is entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--but powered by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
For example, suppose Lloyd has just informed you that your ship will crash land on the jungle moon of Cygnus Delta in 93 seconds. What will you do?
A) Call upon your elite piloting skills to escape the moon’s gravity well.
B) Invite Lloyd to land the ship himself, if he’s so smart.
C) Make the prudent choice, and try landing on the moon’s surface instead of attempting a risky escape.
D) Spend the last 93 seconds of your life gleefully smashing Lloyd’s screen with a torque wrench.
Humanity needs you, Star Captain! Will you defeat the Blobs and come home as a war hero? Will you uncover the secret that sparked the Blob invasion? Will you serve as ambassador and convince the Blobs to spare the human race? The choice is yours.
Fun sci-fi yarn. Play a cool Picard-like captain or be smug like Han Solo. Definitely worth the couple bucks!
...you'll enjoy this app. Like the old CYOA books, but keeps score. Richly written, fun to read and play!
Dorian Hart's created something special here that easily stands shoulder to shoulder with Choice of Broadsides. The writing is particularly deft for the irrational AI character, a highly welcome surprise given how often that trope is badly munged throughout SF writing. Get this one, you won't regret it.
Intelligent story with good plot twists and humor. Like a good novel I didn't want to put it down.
If you like choose your own adventure books or any type of text based game this is worth a try
Love all these choice novel games. One problem though, is that text is cutoff from far right and unable to make text shrink enough to choose Storyline branch option. Not sure if its a iOS 6 problem or my IPAD 2.
I would greatly enjoy this app, but the pages are messed up in a way that I cannot press the "next" button and even advance past the second page. Complete waste of my three dollars. I will continue ranting if there is no fix or refund.
