“Choice of the Rock Star” is an epic interactive novel where your choices control the story. The game is entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and powered by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Will your band tear itself apart? Will you flame out on national television? Or will you build a legacy that stands the test of time?
I personally think you should have more choices. No matter what you do everything is the same basically. You always have to be the band leader, and the singer. You should be able to join a band and not have to be the singer. Have more then one choice of the band members you hire. When I went threw it the first time I wanted there to be duo lead guitarists (Me and a npc), a singer/ Rhythm guitarist, Bassist, Drummer, and a keyboardist. When I did it again I wanted to be the drummer but not also a singer. I also would have wanted to be more of a Glam/Hair metal band but well that didn’t work. My point is that this story needs more choices.
I hope someone tries writing this type of story again, because it had the potential to be really good. It was just too short, with too few endings and things to work with.
This is a great game, for the first hour or so. Then when it seems the second act has just begun, the whole game speeds up lightning fast and ends so abruptly. I probably finished it in an hour or do. Probably move on to Slammed! or another great game by CoG.
It has a lot of potential. The annoying thing is that band members I never selected are showing up in my current story, which is annoying and confusing. I'm being generous as I say 3 stars.
The game has potential, but it needs some polishing. Also, I'm fairly sure that the Role Model-Bad Influence bar is messed up...
Great game but the role model/ bad influence bar is messed up and some stats don't have much effect. However all in all a great game and I recommend it.
I thought that the concept was interesting. That's why I bought the full version, however the plot has to many holes. It's way too short, and it could be improved greatly.
I've usually enjoyed Choice of Games stories, but this one seems to have major issues. It was decent in the beginning, but towards the end I suddenly had different members in the band. It seems like there's a bug in the game that suddenly it "forgets" who is in your band and starts giving you the plot for a different path. Also, it has forced plot lines that no matter what you choose the end result is the same. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, your story ends. Really it makes no sense and is at the same level of writing I would expect from a 12 year old. So, I can only assume something is wrong with the game and several "choice" links are broken. Hopefully this can get fixed.
