"Choice of the Pirate" is a fast-paced swashbuckler of an interactive novel by Alana Joli Abbott, author of "Choice of Kung Fu" and "Showdown at Willow Creek." Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—165,000 words, without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Rise from a deck-swabbing sailor to fleet commander over five years of piracy in the tropical paradise of the Lucayan Sea. Command the winds with magic, or board enemy ships with your cutlass in your teeth.

Will you play as male, female, or nonbinary? Find romance as gay, straight, bi, or poly, or pursue friendships and alliances instead? Will you join the Crown as a privateer and bring pirates to heel? Will you parley with the Pirate King to protect the Lucayan from the navy's rule? Or will you duel the Pirate King and claim his power for yourself?

Buckle yer swash and set sail for adventure!

• Develop your skills as a swashbuckler, sailor, diplomat, scoundrel, or weather-mage.
• Explore a chain of tropical islands where buried treasure and secret pirate camps are hidden.
• Face pirate curses, haunted ships, terrifying monsters, and the wrath of the sea herself.
• Spy for the Crown or become a double agent to support the Pirate King.
• Become a celebrated hero or a ruthless villain.
• Play as male, female, or nonbinary; gay, straight, bi, poly, or asexual.

Awesome pirate adventure
Mr.jcury

This was a great game, the story is captivating and the characters are vivid. Very well written. It really did feel like an awesome pirate adventure. Choices were great as well. It's been a while since choice of games has released a game of this quality. Well worth the money.

Fantastic

A great addition to the Choice of Games selection. Just finished one play through, and I'm going in for seconds, and probably thirds!

Great Read!

I wish there was more!! It was exciting and terrific, a must read.

Five stars

Good storyline, nice writing, stats that make sense and matter... Pirates (of course), Royal Navy, supernatural friends/enemies, fierce creatures, magic and more. The ending was great too-- tied up loose ends and left me satisfied, but just open ended enough to warrant a sequel (which I hope will be made). Overall, great job! Definitely worth buying in my opinion.

Meh

There have been better games, and there have been worse ones. This is however worth your money.

Very well done

I thoroughly enjoy and play several of the "choice of" games... In truth, this is one of my favorites. It was well written, had diverse character development, a lot of adventure, and some great options. I would love to see a sequel of the same quality.

Good but a bit short

I enjoyed the story but I felt that the ending was a bit rushed. Still I think it's worth getting.

Good game

I liked this game, really I did. I liked it so much that I kept taking breaks to play it when I should have been studying for finals (which are only a day away...). The only thing is, sometimes I felt like it was a little rushed. Like, major events in the game lasted only a page or two, with maybe one choice determining the outcome. Also, I haven't gotten a chance to play the other routes (seeing as I'm supposed to be studying) but the ending I got was really unsatisfying, especially considering how well I'd been doing in the game until I made one decision that got me killed. When I have more time, I'm going to go back and play it again so that I can make a different decision in the end, hopefully resulting in a better outcome. I really did like it, I just wish it hadn't felt as rushed. It was definitely worth the money though, as it provided a good couple hours worth of entertainment.

Pure gold

Although I died at the end of my first read, this is an amazing book. Far better than you would think and much better than a certain choice story that came out about pirates not to long ago. All choice writers should learn from this descriptive and entertaining read.

Love it!

I only wish it was longer!
