While this is not nearly the strongest player out there, it is much better than the average club player. But IMHO, the best part is the UI and the ability to use it to learn. Rather than force you to “play” chess, it lets you switch sides and see what the machine is thinking more easily than most, making it easier to learn/study. Could use more database features though, such as showing opening move frequencies and cataloging the players own games.

This is definitely one of the better chess apps. Yes, it does cost some, but I think the quality pays for itself. If you are an experienced player or even just a beginner, the game is extremely versatile and can accommodate any level of play. The graphics are also very adjustable, which is a nice addition. Would certainly recommend!

Well done app. On easier settings computer plays a poor endgame. When playing a rated game computer seems to play up a level above what I expect. Plenty challenging.

I thoroughly enjoy this app. I’m just a novice but, I enjoy playing to help clear my head from the rigors of the corporate world and keep my mind sharp. I’ve tried other and did not care for them. My thanks to the developer!

I like the clean interface, but I wish it was better laid out for iPhone X. It’s not honoring the “safe area” for X and list of moves could easily use more screen real estate (as opposed to seeing a completely blank inch of space above and below the chess board. But it’s better than many other confusingly laid out chess games out there.

I love this chess app. I use the PGN viewer heavily and it is excellent. I also find the opening book to be very helpful and a great learning tool. I have found many of my favorite chess books have free PGN files online, so with this app I can read the books and follow the game annotation and play thru the game with this app, awesome! I truly am amazed at all the functionality in this app, it's far better and more functional than shredder (I enjoy shredder's playing strength but doesn't have the features) and better than fritz and other iPad chess app's. Thank you Tom, this rocks! Also great update, I like the new layout. Thanks again. -Sean
