I liked chess, but did not play much. Now, with this app, I play all the time and against players all over the world. Fun

I’m not the kind of person to write reviews on apps. But this- WOW! This app is great for beginners, to experts. Love how they give you advice. Much better than any other chess game. One thing they could improve is the hints. Sure, the give GOOD advice, but sometimes the advice that they give you is like, ‘Duh.’ Anyways great app, continue on with the great content! -3- ?

It’s quite discouraging to not even have a chance in the beginning. You want players to stay. No ones gonna stay after losing 3-4 times in a row or more. I’m aware I am not good n need to get better but this just made me wanna quit now. I have not found any videos that actually help me make an impact. The bots just say I’m wrong with moves but never explain why they’re bad. This is just your basic streamlined “teach you chess app”. Only good thing is actually free chess no ads. I rate it five because they won’t show this if I rate it 2 star which is my REAL rating. Don’t use this to learn only play after You learn from YouTube or something reliable.

You’re better off trying to learn Chess in traditional ways than using this app. Specifically, Chess.com has no ability to judge the difficulty of their puzzles and the “ratings” associated with them are meaningless. My “rating” in puzzles far exceeds my actual playing ability because they’re just silly puzzles, many of which don’t teach any valuable lessons. The lessons themselves are mediocre at best, and there is a lot of content, but there are too many puzzles that are entirely too difficult for the rating they associate with them. It detracts from the experience. I’ve been a member for a while now but it just isn’t worth the frustration. Even under the “Learning” setting of puzzles (an odd title, since I thought the general point of puzzles was learning) they STILL evaluate you with a red X when you get something wrong, and if you try to just move on, they keep the red X at the top of your screen to remind you that you got something wrong this session. I don’t understand why they want to be that vindictive- it’s frustrating enough trying to learn. If they cared about what paying customers wanted, they’d change it. But, they don’t.

Wow! In summary I complained that the timers are still broken and people are cheating after 3 years. Had a response of generic BS. I then called them out on that and reminded people that they don’t care about cheating. Mysteriously my comment disappeared. Chess.com and their team are subpar. ?

Chess.com has developed a platform that elevates the game of chess. I watch live tournaments, watch GMs play blitz, learn from videos, solve puzzles and of course play games. It is a great community, a powerful teaching and learning tool, and an endless source of entertainment.
