Not bad at all

I really like this app. I like a few other reviewers wish that is came with more preset patches. I have yet to save any of my own patches but you can tweak the heck out of them which is fabulous!!!! I will update this review as I delve deeper into this synth. I can already tell I will be using this as much as Alchemy, Animoog, and ikaossilator for synth sounds!! The price point is ok and the interface is nice.. I do wish you had a few more settings on the main page but I understand that iPhone space is very limited. I look forward to some interesting updates..maybe Soundcloud ability and more presets..if they offered more presets I would rate higher. But as is-nice app and not too big which I always a plus for me!!! FYI- to the person who says it needs a movable keyboard-if you scroll left or right under the keyboard--it moves... Update-nice that it shows you labels for buttons now but I do not know how to export to iTunes. Unless it is in the save area which just copies it. Also the sounds has gone out bout 3 times since the update.. Hope it is not a bug..

That makes three!

Have to give it up to Iceworks for making yet another great app in Cassini. When coming into the app music world, Xenon was my first purchase and since then I have tried Argon and completely fell in love with them both, but Cassini by far is their greatest work in my opinion. I have to admit, at first was a little overwhelmed by the features and turned off by there not being any preset sounds, but after toying with it for some hours, crafting and saving sounds gotta say this little thing packs a punch! In closing just want to say that this is wonderful for copy/paste in other apps and have even made some synth samples to use in Easy Beats 2 as well as in my DAW of choice. Would like to see Iceworks possibly work on another music app similiar to Xenon, but for now Cassini most definitely does the job.

All other ice gear apps work with the Akai synthstation. This one does not or it would have been 5 stars. Hopeful for an update soon.

Background audio and virtual midi!!!

Great synth!!!! but...

....kinda silly without synthstation 25 support like BOTH OF THE OTHER ICEGEAR SYNTHS. what's the deal? Get on it icegear. would be a five for now just a 3.

Decent synth

J .White

It's a very decent synth, but a few problems. The arpeggiator is not very accurate, especially at 1/32. The envelope is not smooth; it sounds like a zipper sometimes.

Not universal

F'd up. Bought it for the iPhone, now I'm feeling ripped off. Stick to universal apps...

Deep options, but you need to roll your own patches

David Wilson-Okamura

PLUS -------- + Waveshapes are standard (sine, saw, pulse, triangle, noise), but there are countless ways to modulate them. (1) Almost everything that can be modulated has its own envelope and LFO. (2) Most of the envelopes have six articulations instead of the usual four: delay, attack, hold, decay, sustain, release. --> Great for long notes and pads. + The iPhone has a small display, so there are lots of screens, but they're intuitively organized. + It has audiocopy for sharing performances with other apps. + It has a powerful arpeggiator (comparable to Sunrizer or Addictive). + You get a ton of functionality for the price. MINUS --------- - The presets don't come anywhere close to showing what this synth is capable of. Plan on rolling your own patches. If you're already familiar with subtractive synthesis, no problem. But this is not an instrument for beginners. For more patches, look at "Casino" from Sunsine Audio. A pack of 59 sells for US$2.50. NOTE: You can use this on the iPad, but the graphics look jaggy. There is now an iPad-only version, which looks much better. No, the new version isn't free. But was that reasonable to expect, really? Review text updated Nov. 8, 2012

This synth is under rated. I use it on my iPhone and iPad. The controls work smother than most. You gan get some good sounds if you spend some time programming. Wish it had audio bus capability.
