Powerful!
Acepyropilot

Don't be fooled by a seemingly simple interface, this thing packs a PUNCH! 3 OSCs + 2 Filters + AMP + 9 EGs + 6 LFOs + 2 Delays + Arpeggiator, this thing has more than some of the $200 VSTis! Can't wait to see where this goes, I'd love to see it on the iPad, though the graphics are so excellent, I'm sure it will work fine in 2x mode.

Has Promise but also issues

On paper it appears really amazing but the interface is limited and not easy to get around. The Main page has 4 assignable knobs but you don't know what they do (unless you visit the Global page in the edit mode). The Mod and Pitch Bend are sketchy to get to work reliably - good luck pulling off any kind of realtime solo with pitch bend and mod movements. Even more confusing is that there is no octave up or down buttons on the performance page - you have to hit EDIT and go to the Global page to find Transpose buttons (which are not transpose buttons). Also confusing is that there are buttons (keys for playing the synth) at the bottom of the edit page AND octave up and down shown here but not on the Main page. The Global Transpose is not semitone based but octave based. So you have these playable buttons AND Octave Up/Down at the bottom of the screen and a global transpose that is mis-named (should be Octave shift or just octave). From what I can tell, it ships with ONLY 27 patches. They are named Synth A01 - Synth 12, Synth B01-B05, Synth C01-C05 and Synth D01-D05. That's it. No descriptive names and most of the patches are very related to each other with various bleep arp patches and synth brass patches. I did find 1 basic organ patch but no bass patches that are punchy, dark with no release….. I truly don't understand why they didn't spend more time to create usable basses, leads, rhythmic and SFX patches. Where are some screaming leads? Where are some thumping hip hop basses? Where are some cool transition sweeps showing off the noise, filters and ultra powerful delays? Where are the funky keyboard patches that show what the FM engine can do? They are nowhere to be found in this release…. I also don't see a bank system so future patches written probably are just added to the list? There is no category settings for patches etther. The knobs work as long as you remember to move your finger in a circular pattern. The buttons are so small for changing between the editing pages that it usually takes a number of hits before it changes. Conclusion: More time to make kick-butt patches that truly show off what the engine can do should have been a huge priority. Shipping with only 27 patches that don't have names is an insult, in my opinion. On top of that the performance page is very inadequate for any sort of live performance. You can't play a note and then drag to scroll (i.e. transpose) the keyboard up or down I won't drop Arctic Synth, SunrizerXS or Animoog to work with this….. a shame more time wasn't spent preparing this killer synth engine for true usage in the real world. I also think this size of an engine with this many parameters really needs the screen space of the iPad2. I hope a universal version is in the works…

Smooooth

Would be the adjective to use for the filters. Much easier to navigate than its older brother Argon. Nice job.

Strong release!!
rhanline

Cassini sounds fantastic! Easy to program, works great with core midi! Loaded it on both my IPad 2 and IPhone 4 and was triggering both from Logic in seconds! 5th star will come with the universal version. Either way this is the next music app of the week!

Want iPad HD version!

Big Dano 100

Very nice! Im a fan of Argon and it was the first apps i purchased. This app just takes it to the next, level lfos and envelopes for everything! This synth is deep deep! It might just be the synth that makes me get a midi controller for my phone. The fact that it has few patches doesn't bother me id rather creat my own anyway!

Needs a movable keyboard
Krusecom

Needs an extended keyboard, one that moves, universal iPad version and more diverse presets.

Maybe my new favorite ios synth!
WVWRX

If you're looking for a synth that comes with a wide range of presets, you're not going to be happy with the included selection, but if you craft your own patches, you'll be in heaven! Cassini is remarkably deep. All oscillator waveforms vary with the shape control - not just pulse width, and each oscillator has its own modulator for FM synthesis. With 9 envelope generators and 6 LFO's, static sounds are a thing of the past. Each LFO has an additional AD/R envelope that can control frequency, waveshape, and output level. The LFO's can even function as 16 stage sequencers!

Please make this for iPad
TadbitOmusiC

I think this is a cool app, I really wish it was better on the iPad

Good

I like it. Lots of sonic possibilities. Please make a native iPad version!
