This game is insanely addictive, the different classes all have their own play style and are all a joy to play. Where's Cardinal Quest 3?

Only thing that keeps it from top notch is the fact that random low level enemies can get all Dark Souls hard and eat away at your health. Also would be awesome if you could continue with champions you've beaten the solo campaign keeping all your stuff to. And finally creating a blank character class that you make using custom characters.

Honestly one of the best games on AppStore, a simple and engaging game that never gets old. The different classes are all fun to play without getting too complicated. I just unlocked the alchemist, and I've been wanting to get to try him, but I'm so deep in the tower I still don't want to die

CQ2 is well worth the download. If you have any experience in rogulikes you'Il appreciate the mechanics. Has a classic feel even on normal mode. And gentle enough on beginners that they'll find it challenging without ruining their interest.

Love this game. Creative, and each class makes totally different strategies to take. And even within one class, you can choose different ways of playing them. Really great rougelike. I highly recommend.

Fun game, but with questionable design choices

Great little easy-to-pick-up roguelike (lite) that can scratch the itch of any gamer looking for something that isn't the same old gambling/clash of whatever crap that populates the App Store. However, I do think there are some design choices and mechanics that almost ruin the experience. The main one being the way rng is used to more or less toggle difficulty. The attack/defense stats basically determine whether you win or lose on the first stage of a suicide level and chests are NOT random, not really at any rate. Legendary chests appear in regular patterns for instance.... which is kinda lame when you find yourself victim to rng elsewhere. And without appropriate skills or items, it's easy to die from ranged enemies no matter how skilled you are. I love roguelikes, so dying over and over isn't a problem with me, but I also like to think that skill plays a role in surviving, but such is not the case here. Instead, rng overrules skill. On top of that, in order to progress in the achievement ladder, you need to complete impossible tasks like winning all acts in a row without dying. It should be rewritten, "roll the dice until you get 50 snake eyes in a row." At least offer a quick restart button if you're gonna design such ridiculous roadblocks. Then there are the problems with the UI. You'll find you accidentally use items constantly, you wait a turn when you intended to perform an action, and pause the game over and over when trying to target an enemy that happens to overlap with the settings buttons. Like I said, a way better game than most of the crap on the App Store, but really could benefit from a revisit from the devs.

I almost never write reviews for iOS games, but this game is great enough that I'll make an exception. No fake difficulty, no paywalls--even *balancing* updates, for God's sake. I can't recommend this game enough.
