Fun Zombie Survival Strategy

This game is a lot of fun and keeps me coming back for hours! Worth the money!

Won't open... Can't play....

Unfortunately, I can not play this on my iPad Air with the latest update. The app opens but then just closes immediately. I could not find a way to contact the developer through here or the website. The website basically just contains a link to download the app. So instead... I am leaving this review and low rating and hopefully the dev will notice that there is an issue and that the app needs another update. I will edit this to a positive review when I can actually play again. It is a nice game when playable. :(

I am loving the recent updates to Buried Town but I am running into a problem where Rotten Zombies and higher hit me twice with a lesser zombie attack even when there isn't a lesser zombie. Rotten hits with Mutilated and Rotten, Bloated hits with Rotten and Bloated. Is this a game issue or is it supposed to happen?

Good and bad points

Overall I enjoy this game. It has decent (if simple) music and sounds that help capture the mood. I wish you could adjust the volume in the game, but unfortunately the only options are "sound on" and "sound off". The interface takes a few tries to get the hang of, and I wish there was more detailed descriptions of what items do in game. Time management is heavily skewed with some tasks taking far too long for their potential in-game benefit. Item drops are random, so each game comes down more to luck than skill - if the proper items drop early in the game, you'll have an easier time. I have yet to discover the use of "mood" in-game; and the game does not give adequate descriptions of what its use is, and how to improve it. The most useful items are hidden behind an "in-app purchase" pay wall. While I have no problem buying expansions to add a new dimension to a game, I will not do so just to accomplish things you should already be able to do in-game. For instance: when crafting is an aspect of the game, I should not have to pay real money for the ability to craft items in-game with in-game resources. If I buy something, I shouldn't have to grind through the game to build it. If I grind through the game to gather resources to build something (boots, for example) I should not have to pay a dollar to be able to build them. The cardinal rule for in-app purchases: items should be unlocked by either gameplay OR money, not both. The game allows you to share your progress via social media which will unlock a first aid kit for your next game (and ONLY the next game). If you do not use the first aid kit (or if you restart the game) you will lose that item from your starting inventory. Bear this in mind if you screw something up early in the game and want to restart. For a game that is all about time management, it is strange to not have a pause button. If you want to think about your next move, you have to leave the app to stop the clock. The clock continues to run while you peruse the item, trade, load-out, and travel screens - but it pauses as combat takes place. The game lacks a "retreat" button, so if a fight starts going South your character will continue to fight while you're getting frustrated wanting to run away. I have yet to discover a way to harvest wood. Considering all the buildings are built of wood, and there are boxes and fences and trees - it should be one of the easiest resources to collect (with its mass being its major drawback). CONCLUSION: This game has an interesting aesthetic and puts you in the shoes of someone who is just trying to survive as long as possible (before the bitter end). You might starve, you might get mauled, an infection might kill you - expect to die, but it's fun to see how long you can hold out. That said, there are certain aspects of this game's design that confuse or frustrate. These issues prevent the game from being a great game and regulate it to the category of "flawed - with potential". It is a rough game right now - but in the event the programmers polish it up a bit, this game could become a hauntingly beautiful experience.

Getting Better, with each new update!

Audiojunkie2013

The latest version has gotten better, but it is still too hard to survive. I've lasted 43 days max so far. As time goes on, the number of zombies that must be fought at a time keeps increasing, but supplies continue to be scarce. I have, however, discovered how essential trading with your neighbors is. I've also discovered that various items are worth more to one neighbor than another. Now I need to figure out what is best to trade with each. Giving a neighbor a favorite thing increases how much they like you, which helps when in need. I would love it if there was some way to have a happy ending in this game. As it is now, the point of the game is simply to survive as long as you can. I would be happy with building up my home base to be completely self sufficient over time. Over all though, it is a good game for what it does. Hopefully, I'll find a way to survive longer. ? I give it a good solid 4 star rating, because the developer continues to improve the game. It's starting to be less frustrating and more fun! ?

I love the game, but it would be nice if your hunger didn't leave so fast.
