Every parents favorite app

My littlest started daycare not long ago, and of course as a busy working mom I worry about/think about/constantly want updates on my baby. This app not only alleviates my fears, it assures me my baby is in good hands. I love getting pictures of him, knowing when he’s eaten and slept, and if the teachers have questions, they just message me! I’ll be picking schools based on this app from now on for sure. It’s the best!

The check in screen could use a major UI refresh to make it cleaner and also more friendly. When parents check their child in, they should be able to indicate what time they are planning to pick the child up, and who will likely be picking up. Check out www.Famly.co for a company that does this well! When a teacher checks a child in, they should also be able to do the above-listed items. And - for security - have the system Print a small label/receipt like Procare does to allow Teachers to know the child was correctly checked out. This kiosk only gives a sense of security as it is digital, but the teachers don’t actually know if someone successfully checked out or not. Lastly / customer service is slow to respond and doesn’t seem to read the emails and instead sends boiler plate responses.

Love the app. Great way to communicate with teachers. Conversation format is a little hard to follow. It’s. It bucketed into conversations. Rather it shows inbox and sent separately. Would like it combined.

It’s missing the basic function of notification badge app icon to display how many notifications are awaiting you. I’ve missing many messages after seeing the pop up and then forgetting to go back and look at it. The app icon would be very helpful. My other complaint is if I get a motivation about a note I click on it and it takes me to a menu where I now have to choose which child the note is for. This should be done automatically without me guessing.

On the whole it is very good. Wish it did a better job adhering to iOS gestures/idioms. In all major apps you can dismiss a modal image by swiping it up or down. Brightwheel makes me reach up to the "done" button as if I'm some sort of cave dwelling savage with a freakishly long thumb. 5 stars when that's fixed.
Big Privacy Issues

I logged in recently and was shocked to find someone else’s child’s info on my home screen. I was able to access all their care info, see the medications they were taking, all their photos, potentially change personal details; I could have even sent messages as if I was the parent. (Though, of course I did not.) All this blew my mind and gave me pause. As a technologist, I have a few ideas how it might have happened. What I can tell you for certain, there’s no one at BrightWheel all that concerned with the privacy a security of your family’s most intimate information. In fact, we notified BrightWheel immediately after finding this “bug”, and they brushed off our concerns and gave us some possible ways to delete the aberrant user from our profile. In other words, it’s up to us to address their security issue. They appear to have no policies and procedures to deal with what I (as developer) would consider a red alert, all-hands-on-deck emergency. The worst part is that we have no idea now who’s seeing all of OUR child’s info or where else it may be ending up. All this is unfortunate, we otherwise like and enjoy this app quit a bit. But, if you’re at all concerned about the security and privacy of your child’s information, your most intimate information, it’s simply too risky to use this app.
Great App - Notifications Separated

I love this app! The only feedback I have is that it would be awesome if the food, nap, potty notifications were separated. I would love to be able to get notifications for some of those options, but not all. And getting all the notifications drains my battery. Thanks!

My center has been using Brightwheel for almost 2 years. Parents LOVE the information and pictures of their child’s day that they get straight to their phones or computers. They no longer have to wait until they pick their child up to know how their day was. My staff and I love the ease in which we can do daily reports and the billing features save me tons of time and it is much easier to manage payments. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BRIGHTWHEEL!!
