Tricky to use but good Special Education App!

This app has all the options needed to make it suitable for all learners. I love the ability to customize settings. My son is legally deafblind and this app is truly accessible! I'm hoping for more intuitive menus and navigation. For example back to delete and create new user to log in? The labels don't make navigating easy! It also needs a home button and menu button available from inside menus. So far the app has been better in theory than in actual usage!

This app by far exceeds anything else on the market. I purchased an iPad solely to use this app for learning an unwritten language. Although it crashes a lot, its still worth it. The advantage is that it is so customizable, but this also means it is sometimes difficult to figure out exactly what settings to use. I wish it had more offline capabilities and allowed for better data managment as a creator/teacher, but as a student/learner it has been epic...besides the regular crashing.

I have been using this app for years with my students who are beginning to learn English. It is great for isolating vocabulary with images, text, and audio. The custom board options are great for use with any grade or subject area, and the image searches have improved greatly for ease of use, compared to what they used to be like. Only problem is that it crashes once or twice every time I use it. Other than that, I don't know what I would do without this app! Probably waste a lot of trees and color ink making flash cards!

I use this app with all my students. It can teach vocabulary, articulation, spelling, how to form sentences, and so much more. Well worth the price. Wish all educators had this!!

Update June 2017: I have been using this app since my first iPad2! That should say it all. The app was and is so useful for educators. Bitsboard is the perfect tool to make a sentence builder for young students who want to move beyond learning vocabulary to making sentences. If you are teaching English to very young learners it is much more engaging then plain flash cards. I also like how I can scale up the difficulty of the vocabulary challenges as per each classes ability while staying on the same vocabulary set. The classroom system is really good and provides a clear and necessary reason for any educator to get the pro version. The app is updated regularly which shows the developers care and their response to any of my queries have been prompt. I simple have no complaints. I only wish they had a Player vs Player mode like the app Tiny Stars. That really motivated kids to practice at home so they could win the challenges in class.
Excellent but buggy

I'm a linguist using Bitsboard Pro to learn and document the language of a tribal people in Papua New Guinea. This app is brilliant and by far the most versatile digital tool my team uses. We are essentially creating our own "Rosetta Stone" for this language, daily recording audio samples and taking pictures in order to create "boards" with which we can practice our language skills and supplement our immersion in the culture. Each member of my team can create his own board and then AirDrop it to each other member as often as we need. This function saves us hours of data syncing and reconfiguration. These capabilities put us miles ahead of where the previous generation of linguists began. And more so, my own children are already able to utilize this tool for learning multiple languages simultaneously. My three year old can navigate to the "Photo Touch" game, choose the board created for him, and practice his basic nouns for as long as we'll allow him because the reward sound for choosing the correct picture makes it exciting. And since he's hearing audio, seeing the visual, and physically choosing the picture, he's engaged on multiple levels and learning quickly. I cannot rate this app a full five stars because it has been riddled with bugs. I understand that's simply the slow process of creating something like this, but I've lost weeks of work in a single moment when my classes synced backwards and deleted themselves, and the AirDrop function still fails more often than it works. It has been stressful relying so heavily on this app with all its imperfections, but its sheer capability and the versatility of its programming make it well worth the risk.

Great!!!! I used this app during my speech therapy sessions for different goals. It is really great to practice Spanish Language creating new boards.
