Mostly great

mcmanuss8

Bug in Captured - freed units can't move immediately after being freed, so your leaders die basically immediately. :( Otherwise great port.

Awesome on iPad

I can’t seem to move any of the pieces. I can see the highlighted areas where I can move but it won’t let me move the pieces. Can someone please help me?

Great game keeps you busy for hours hard to find games like these these days

Amazing game, full of great content

Ethrael

If you like turn-based tactical games with a Tolkien-style fantasy, this is your game. It’s one of those that is easy to learn but hard to master. It has beautiful pixel art, and a lot of quality additional content that can be downloaded for free from the internal package manager. This is well worth the money.

Fun turned based strategy!

Jgravy

Good depth with plenty of scenarios to play.

New control

Used to love this game. Can't enjoy it with the dragging controls.

The BEST mobile game I have EVER played!

Titan Balderac

I don’t usually take the time to leave reviews but this game is special; this is literally the most fun game on my ipad and it would be a shame to not tell others about it! There are so many garbage games out there with ads and pay-to-win gimmicks that when you find a game like this; it is a breath of fresh air in a chamber full of stale games that only care about raking in money and not providing a quality experience to their players. I will try to break this game down for ease of this review: Gameplay: This is a fantasy setting, turn based, strategy game on par with many PC games; in fact Wesnoth was ported from PC which has only solidified its gameplay value. This game has amazing forking pathed campaigns. It can be played online or hotseat mode with friends (a very rare feature in games today, I would like to add) and it has addon community-made mods which makes for a lifetime of replay value as each one can change the game completely for an entirely new experience to enjoy! There is also a role-playing element to this game. No two units will be exactly alike as they have stats and you are free to name your troops at any time! Graphics: The graphics are bright and charming and are rendered in beautiful HD. The terrain and scenery pull you into the beautifully crafted world of Wesnoth. The units and monsters are neatly animated and will amaze you as they move through the land and battle one another. The UI and maps are keenly rendered and the menus are pleasant to navigate as well. Sound: The music is amazing! There is basically an entire orchestra setting the mood for the stories and battles which will pull you in and let you feel the glory, epicness and desperation in the battles you will wage. The sound effects are great as well: You can feel the thunk of the maces, the clangs of the blades, and the might of the magic spells through the sound effects! Story: As mentioned in gameplay, the campaigns are expertly crafted and your choices will change the story completely. The stories in these campaigns will pull you into the history-rich world of Wesnoth. Difficulty: The campaigns have a wide range of difficulties so that a novice can pick this game up and learn to play or a veteran of the strategy genre will have a challenge that will force them to really plan out their tactics! If you’re new to strategy games, don’t be intimidated! Anyone can pick this game up and learn to play quickly and have fun. Multiplayer: The fact that this game has a pass-and-play hotseat element is enough for me to recommend the multiplayer. There are not enough mobile games with this feature but, if this does not appeal to you, the game also has a thriving online community with multiplayer campaigns, cooperative or competitive maps and scenarios and, as aforementioned, user created addons which can also be played with others as well. Overall: This game is worth much more than the money being charged for it. In a time when greed through micro transactions and ads is ruining Mobile gaming, we need more like this; good quality games with developers that actually care about the gameplay experience they are bringing to their players. They have poured their hearts into this game which you can tell as soon as you play it. This game is constantly being updated and being made better. I urge you to help support this trend in mobile gaming! Good quality gaming should be supported and rewarded. Try Battle for Wesnoth! You will be glad you did!

Totally random game

4AK

An otherwise great strategy game is ruined by having to roll for every single hit, every attack - at extremely low percentages (often 40% or worse hit chance). It is simply not fun to painstakingly plan a strategy to have it fail due to simply bad rolls on the random attack chance. I suspect the app developer is paying for positive reviews as there is no way a serious strategy player could enjoy a game this completely random. Also the interface is total garbage - very poorly implemented port.
