Paid off my car

It was really nice to pay off my car, but the Bank of the West App made it easy. It still cost me a bundle, but at least it was easy. Now it’s mine a couple of years early.

An update to my review - The app is better now, but it has ads in it! Seriously? Ads inside a financial institution app? How desperate is Bank of the West? Just updated to the latest version yesterday, now it says “Service Unavailable”. Probably not a coincidence. Updated my review to add that this app sends a pic of the check you deposit with the signature visible. It’s best practice not to. Wells Fargo blocks that part of the check image. Time for an update! This app is so-so. Not anywhere near as good as the Wells Fargo app. The problem with this app is 90% of the time, the first login attempt fails even though I double check my password is typed properly. Also, it doesn’t email you when you make a transfer like it does when you deposit a check. The deposit portion could be better. This app makes you take the picture yourself using trial and error. Whereas, the Wells Fargo app takes the picture of the check automatically when it is properly centered. More frustration today 12/7/21 - I tried to add a payee on the website, but Bank of the West has decided that you cannot verify the payee’s address. Pardon me for wanting to know exactly where my payment is going! So I decided to try adding a payee by taking a picture of the bill. It worked OK until I tried to finish adding the payee. Then I got an error to check the account info. After trying 3 times to add the account number and getting an error, I threw in the towel and added it their way. I’ll have to check to make sure the payment is received and if not I can call it in. You really need to keep working on this app. It’s almost ready for public use!

So instead of them allowing to set a payment up higher than the monthly due date AND IF I PAY EXTRA IN A MONTH THEY WILL only pull what was left the next month. So if my payment is $500 a month and I pay $950 this month they will only deduct $50 next month when my auto payment is due. What a crock of crap. Lied to by the loan officer. I won’t do business with this company again!

The monthly limits are so low as to basically be useless. Fortunately, a branch is located down the street, so I make paper deposits. Virtually all deposit checks are drawn on my business account at Wells. Most other things work just fine, so I don’t understand this blind spot.

The online banking app does not allow for extra principal payments to be made on your car loan so it could be paid off sooner, so if I pay extra on my car loan, it will just deduct from my monthly payment for the following month. This really should be updated to allow that, it is an inconvenience to have to go through snail mail to send in a principal payment as the USPS is not as reliable anymore.

message feature never works and i am not about to wait hours to talk to someone on the phone like i did the other day please fix the messages
