Aggravating but Fun...

It is fun, but I wouldn't recommend it to a learning player because it will encourage a vastly over cautious strategy of play. One of the fun aspects of backgammon is understanding the odds and knowing what risks to take. Backgammon Gold punishes risk taking. It is beatable because it plays so foolishly, but it is nowhere near the neighborhood of honest backgammon. Oh btw, their website claims the game is not rigged, which is tempting to believe, but as a statistician, after having played hundreds of games I can testify that it is difinitely rigged. "Computer expert" rolls doubles at a rate approximately quintuple the odds. The rigged rolls become predictable, particularly after accepting a double. I can't imagine why a programmer of games would do this, but there ya go.

Gold Backgammon Pro? The current American Executive apparently has ushered in a fashion for chaos and Trumpery to a psychopathic extreme and that infestation is manifest in you application! The ideological theory and practice of Backgammon has a noble cause in the analysis of mathematical probability, not some some idiotic and immoral infatuation with deceit and unabashed luck! Therefore your preference in juicing, or should I say ginning up the Computerized Player to roll excessively disproportionate Doubles, rolling obligatory doubles for itself on the first if not second roll, Slash & Burn Antics, Luck Boxes @17 & 35 to 1, Slow Rolling Priming Games, disproportionate Races to Bear- Off, at a time when the Human player fans on a 1 Point board, rolls Reverse 17 to 1 Shots when caught in a ludicrous Back-game, or habitually rolls the weakest Opening first move! These defects are an obvious & absolute affront to the principle of Probability verses Possibility, wherein the latter is implicitly offensive to jurisprudence! This fact is precisely why it's illegal to Gamble in New York but Legal to play Games like both Chess & Backgammon for money, because the stronger player is a correspondingly strong favorite to win. Hence these are not games of chance! It is possible that I could win the Lottery tomorrow, but it's not 'probable'! Thus under the circumstances mentioned above it's also repugnant that you profess to calculate Elo Ratings when your program software can't simulate an honest Random Roll for itself or the human player. Hence it is again damning that you claim to know the averages for single and consecutive Doubles, but you obviously lack the data from programs like the decade old Jelly Fish or Sconyer's which are helpful to Players in evaluating subtle Cube Action which is dependent on mathematically rational Average Rolls! For the nonce I may continue to use this App as a workout exercise, but I implore you to consider; As a commercial Application this program may be picked up by any manner of students from novice to pro. Ergo for the Expert or Pro this is a big humorous joke, but for the Beginner or Novice this is both an invitation to corrupted and immoral thinking. As the saying goes, absolute corruption corrupts absolutely. You may still try insisting that playing for Luck is fun, but as the saying goes; If you paint the devil on the wall he will appear! At long last, it is aggravating that I should be the one to explain these fact to because obviously you have no clue mention of paying me for what you as yet haven't comprehended!

Of course it is frustrating when the computer seems to get the prefect roll at the perfect time, but the accusations that the game cheats is absurd. People making this accusations do not understand statistics and probability. I think this game works great. If I have a complaint it is that I think the developers may have dumbed down the computer expert. Even playing at the highest degree of difficulty. I am shocked to see how many sub-optimal opening moves it makes. For example, rolling 3-1 and not establishing the 5 point, rolling 6-1 and not establishing the 7 point. I use to play at the highest level and only won around 30% of tournaments. Recently I have been winning 70%. I speculate that the developers got sick and tired of all the whining about cheating and dumbed down the computer expert. If that is true, can you please restore the true best computer expert?

Just wish the computer was smarter. On beginner the rolls almost always favor the player, but anything above that and the rolls always favor the computer.

Why do yo keep insisting that the dice aren't rigged when the proof is in the playing ? Why don't you just try playing your game on "computer easy" for a while, not just a minute, and you will see what your customers see. They are not just imagining it, or trying to hurt your business, they are experiencing it and pointing it out to you.

A review from a high ranked player: At level 4, this is the most cheating Backgammon game there is. Don't ever let yourself get knocked out. Average rolls for the game to get back in: 1.5. Average rolls needed for you to get back in: 5.5. If the computer has only 2 or 3 points blocked, those are the rolls you'll get over and over again. If you have 5 points blocked, the computer will find the open spot in one or two rolls. In one game, the computer got exactly the only two-die roll needed to escape and hit so often, we calculated the odds at over 10,000 to one. We play this only to ridicule it. We would call out 6 and 4 almost every time that was the only roll that would win for the computer. Doubles when behind, immediately followed by multiple doubles.
