Audio Signal Generator

Signal Generator is an app that produces audio test tones. The basic app produces sine waves, and it can be extended and customized (via in-app purchases) to produce white noise, pink noise, frequency sweeps, and (on iPhone 4 and better) square waves, sawtooth waves, and triangle waves.

• Tone Generator. The basic app includes a sine wave generator that generates signals from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a 44.1 kHz sample rate, 16-bit samples, and 96 dB of dynamic range. Frequency control via logarithmic knob or keyboard input.

• Pro Tone Generator. (Optional in-app purchase). Extends the frequency range down to 1 Hz, and adds stereo control and buttons to increment the frequency in steps. On iPhone 4 and better, alias-reduced classic waveforms are available. Square waves, sawtooth waves, and triangle waves are generated with aliasing kept to -54 dB or less.

• Noise Generator. (Optional in-app purchase). Produces white noise, pink noise, and brown noise. Pink noise falls off at 3 dB per octave (±1 dB). Brown noise falls off at 6 dB per octave.

• Frequency Sweeps. (Optional in-app purchase). Adjustable start and stop frequencies. Linear or logarithmic sine wave frequency sweeps. Single shot sweeps, repeating upward sweeps, and upward/downward sweeps.

Downloaded this forever ago & I’ve used it to set gain clip on my amps in a few different cars since most everything I listen to is streamed thru my phone. I’m sure theres people that use it to a much further extent than I do but it’s always done what I need and very simple to use

I was looking for a simple tone generator. Seems like it should be easy enough to make, find, and use. After looking at many, both web and app, and testing maybe two dozen, this Signal Gen is the only one worth keeping and meets my requirements even in the free version.

I have been dabbling with some sound experimentation on various media. One of the functions is sustaining a steady tone to measure heat out put. This app makes setting that up very quick and painless (by painless I mean I use my watch to control the volume at a distance) Anywho, almost rated 4 stars due to toggling the dials get cumbersome when manually sweeping. I was messing around in my trucks audio and would slowly increase output but found myself having to reset my finger on the dial. Maybe sliders instead of dials? Otherwise perfect for any application where noise, tones, or sweeps are needed to adjust voltage, gains, or other audio needs.

I’ve had this app for five years I am a car audio installation technician. I have use this app to tune thousands of installs. It is definitely worth purchasing the extra add-ons. I don’t think there would be another app I would ever want to use for Signal generation and tone generator

I bought the pro version in the app and it doesn’t reproduce any noise at any frequency through my phone speakers or any peripheral ( Bluetooth speaker, Beats, wired speaker, and various other speaker devices). This app doesn’t work period. Please fix or give me a refund.

Great teaching aid with the kids, benchmark and generator when working with electronics, and helps tune the ear to hear differences between wave shapes. Can select stereo or left/right speaker output, auto repeating sweep through tones, easily dial and tune, or precisely navigate tones by hertz, semitones (very helpful), and cents. Well made app!

Worst ever used it and after words phone shut off could not turn on iPhone 6splus for 30 minutes afterwards finally got it to turn on. My fingerprint functions will not work anymore. No solutions to fix this and could not accomplish the original protect that I was originally trying to do In the first place.

The dB setting in the amp is wrong. 0dB is actually -6dB. Look up a normal 0dB 50hz test tone on YouTube then compare it to the app. Or connect your phone to a computer and test it (capture the sound with Adobe Audition)
