It can open files that have been mailed to you, files you encounter on the web, or even files from your computer through iTunes file sharing. It lets you preview the files inside archives, such as text, images or music. If you have another app installed that can open a file, Archives can also use that app to open contained files.
As it is based on The Unarchiver, it can handle a large number of different archive formats: Common formats like Zip, RAR, 7-zip, Tar, Gzip and Bzip2, as well as older formats like StuffIt, DiskDoubler, LZH, ARJ and ARC. It can also handle other kinds of formats, like CD and DVD images such as ISO, BIN, MDF, NRG and CDI, many Windows self-extracting EXE files, and can even extract media from Flash SWF files and images from PDF files. See the program home page for a full list.
Perfect one-stop shop for archives in iOS6. Following the reputation of The Unarchiver, it opens absolutely everything. The interface is clean, well designed, and integrates perfectly. The only app you will ever need.
I think it's the best unpack app in whole app store cause it has simple UI, and does everething you need in therms of extracting data from archieves
A recent client email with a ZIP attachment stopped me dead in my tracks on the iPad. I remembered this app as I use the also-great version on OS X (The Unarchiver). Worked perfectly, allowing me to just browse the actual files in the archive without needing to actually extract them (which can be done as well if you need to).
Actually works. Looks like a native app, which is great. Not being able to extract .zip and .rar files was one thing that always sent me to my computer. This is truly a "must have" app.
Would have bought this sooner if I knew the developer of The Unarchiver made an iOS app. Does what it says on the tin, and looks great too. Nice job.
Can't get a file out of this app. It's a dead end. If you want full functionality, but not the cleanest UI, try the unarchiver.
Trouble with unicode (russian language) on 7zip crypted archives. if you fix it, i change my rating.
Does exactly what its supposed to. Totally worth the money, made life a lot easier on my unjailbroken idevices and still super useful on my jailbroken ipad and iPod
