So far, so good

Just added this app. Will be using during an upcoming trip and compare. Having Active Captain is a great plus.

Love it!

I use this and Navionics. This one has Active Captain capability.

A waste of time!

I spent 2 days trying to work this app. Oh sure, it's great if you are using an iPad and that's it. I was trying to share the kmz file it produces and not only goes my garmin sw not open it, neither will google earth or anything else. I even googled, "what opens a kmz file?" And tried 3 different sw's and none opened it. So, if want to share the files it produces, forget it!

Not bad

The map detail is just so so but it is accurate which is a plus. I was looking for the navionics app but it was unavailable at the time I bought the app I know have both apps and don't really use this one but it is a great back up.

Use with IPad

I bought this app for my iPad thinking I could use it as a substitute for a chart plotter. The maps are brilliant, lots of reference and way pointing set up is a snap. However it doesn't track when I use my non phone iPad and portable hot spot. (Wi-fi only) Evidently you need the built in phone for tracking? It's does work on my 6 plus but that's a challenge for old eyes. If anyone knows related information please post as this product would be great to use.

Great features

I was looking for an alternative to BlueChart mobile since Garmin has again decided to take a good product away from us just as it became popular on the market. Blue chart mobile now lies in the huge graveyard of other discontinued Garmin products. But that is ok because this App is one of the very best on the market, at any price. It has lots of useful features with all the detail of the US coast that the most expensive electronic charts have. Can’t believe it’s free! One negative is the lack of coverage in the Bahamas. My understanding is that the only charts with detailed coverage of the Bahamas are the Explorer charts.

Recent AICW trip

Ankle Deep Captain

I recently completed a trip from Ft Pierce FL to the Upper Chesapeake. I was attracted to the concept of the Sonar Charts and decided to use them as my primary navigation tool. I found the charts reflected accurate pictures of the latest information on the various “trouble spots” reported primarily on cruisersnet.net. I downloaded several of the alternate routes (to another program) but found that they were so similar to what Sonar charts were showing, I stuck with them. The only exception was Dawhoo River where the recommended route was so unbelievable I had to try it - with no problem. It would be reassuring to be able to overlay those alternates on Navionics Sonar Charts! Gary Pensell aboard Eventide - 5’ draft Kadey Krogen 48

Great Cruising Ap

Got it mainly for Active Captain and found it to be much more! I use it for planning and as a backup for my Garmin chart plotter.
