Apogee MetaRecorder is an extremely flexible two-channel audio recording app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with features to support a wide variety of unique and powerful workflows. Because it’s Apogee, audio is of the highest quality - recorded at a resolution up to 24-bit, 96kHz in WAV. or CAF format. Connect an Apogee audio interface or Sennheiser ClipMic digital or MKE 2 digital lavaliere mic for a professional quality input signal, and adjust hardware input gain and DSP (Sennheiser only) from MetaRecorder.

The Master-Satellite Link feature makes it possible to link one Master iPhone via Wi-Fi to up to 3 Satellite iPhones (also iPad/iPod Touch). Once the link is established, every action you perform on the Master is duplicated on the Satellites - create and name Scenes, initiate recording and playback, set input levels, choose Takes, add Markers, Keywords and Favorites, and share Scenes and Takes. It’s even possible to monitor Satellites’ audio - recording and playback - from the Master. This offers the best of a wireless system - convenience and flexibility - with the reliability of standalone internal recording - each Satellite records its own audio.

Master-Satellite Link opens a world of applications for audio-for-video, mobile broadcast, and even recitals, weddings and other public events.

MetaRecorder transforms your Final Cut Pro workflow as well. Apply metadata tags like Keywords, Favorites, Markers and more to your audio files while recording in the field, then share the recorded audio and Final Cut Pro XML files directly from MetaRecorder. When imported into Final Cut Pro on a Mac, the captured metadata greatly simplifies the process of organizing and parsing your media, substantially accelerating your post-production workflow.

With the free version of MetaRecorder, it’s possible to record up to 60 seconds of audio on up to 4 linked iPhones. The Full Version in-app purchase allows unlimited recording on a single device, while the Full Version with Multi-Device Support allows unlimited recording on up to 4 devices.

**For a limited time, connecting an Apogee or Sennheiser iOS audio interface unlocks the Full Version (single device) in-app purchase; the Multi-Device Support in-app purchase may be made later at a discounted price.**

Audio pop at beginning of recording
Strizbiz

I get this audio pop at the start of every recording now when using the Apogee Jam 96k , there should be a way to delete sections of audio.

Glad to see they released an update for this!

Best recording app out there.

I’m a recording engineer and music producer. When I’m working with a band, I plug in my Sennheiser ambeo headset which has mics in the headphones and use the meta recorder app to record pre production. It’s incredible. Have to say thanks to apogee for fixing the Dropbox sync issues :)

Awesome for field recording

I use this with the apogee 3D surround headset mics to record in car audio ambience while shooting races. It’s easy to use but still professional which is great in stressful situations. Great feature is the ability to drop markers on the fly and also type in notes that show up in final cut. Also linking 3 phones with different mics to one master is an amazing idea that works well

Essential for HQ portable recording
limjlcm9

I have several Apogee audio devices for recording and playback, and Metarecorder is a great tool for putting all my HQ audio material together. The Dropbox integration is extremely useful since I’m a heavy Dropbox user as well, and the new upgrade makes usage even smoother. Very happy with this application and with Apogee’s thoughtful design!

Is this app supported any more?
TheIdol

It doesn’t look like it as the Dropbox connection no longer works. Pair this with their mke2 digital at $400 and you can’t even move files to Dropbox anymore. This was a really good app but all it takes is not updating it to fall to the bottom of the barrel. UPDATE: 9/17/2018 They have fixed the issues with drop box, and once again this is my app of choice for recoding! Thank you for listening.

“Booby trapped” App!
SimonLMiller

This app “punished” me for not using their proprietary mic by ruining my interview! I had set up an important shot with a special guest, and chose the Countryman lav mic instead of the Sennheiser mic. But the vindictive app stopped recording after 60 seconds - unbeknownst to me -to punish me for using another company’s mic! I lost an crucial piece of audio because the developers thought they would “outsmart” me and “teach me a lesson”. Well the lesson is learned: don’t use the Apogee app- use another app that is upfront about user privileges and works the way you expect it to when working on once-in-a-lifetime interviews!

Fantastic FCPXML support
tpayton

I use this a bit of live logging during multicam shoots. I record the audio, placing markers in recordings and then sync those makers with my Multicam clip in Final Cut Pro. A fantastic solution.

Bad app good mic

Using with ambeo binaural headset. This app freezes whenever I try to share a recording. I recommend using another recording app with these mics.
