Why can’t I give it 6 stars?

This is the best mobile device tool for analyzing chess and it uses Stockfish 11. It makes effective use of the limited screen real estate of mobile devices. Its uniqueness alone putting it in a class of its own is deserving of 5 stars. Not a replacement for a full fledged PC program such as Aquarium from ChessOK but on my iPhone and iPad, this program rules! I am often surprised at how the author keeps improving it.

I recently discovered this along with Your Move. It is perfect for managing and analyzing and maintaining my notes on my ICCF games, and I highly recommend it. My one small complaint, and hoped for improvement, is that you allow me to shut off the engine in Settings. I do not use an engine for analysis, and it is troublesome that is flashes up every time I use the app. Of course, I can turn it off at that point, and set the lowest possible settings, but it is distracting and one cannot unsee something. How long does it take to update the engine!

Looking forward to Stockfish 11 update. Nit: Why does this app create SQLite files under Downloads folder? Should it not be inside the application sandbox folder.

Great App, but suggestions!..

I think a really interesting and useful update would be an option to limit ply depth search. If i’m not mistaken, this is an easy limit to put on an engine and shouldn’t be too hard to put into an app. This would let us play against the engine with a sort of handicap on it. Forcing us to play “clean” chess. But not 20 move deep grandmaster chess. I feel that I can usually see about 5 or 6 play deep into a game, so if I could limit the engine to see that far, it would let me practice chess at my level. Let me know what you think!
