Terrible game

zipserver

As a chess progrem it doesn’t resemble to anything else. I found it terrible!

Engine crashes all the time on ios 9.3.5

appleisinfuriating782

It used to be great, now it's become totally unusable on ios 9.3.5 due to the analysis engine crashing all the time. Most of the time you can't even make 2 moves in a row without the engine crashing. Once the engine crashes, the only way to start it again is to close and restart the app. The developers claimed some crashing issue was fixed on a recent update, but it did absolutely nothing to solve this. Simply downgrading to the last usable version would fix this, but of course apple know better and won't allow us to downgrade. I'd give this 0 stars if it let me.

Outstanding mobile chess analysis tool

_NM_

This is the best mobile device tool for analyzing chess and it uses Stockfish 10. It makes effective use of the limited screen real estate of mobile devices. Its uniqueness alone putting it in a class of its own is deserving of 5 stars. Not a replacement for a full fledged PC program such as Aquarium from ChessOK but on my iPhone and iPad, this program rules! I am often surprised at how the author keeps improving it yet it keeps getting better. Thank you!

The best for multi line analysis

hackworks

Would love if the app is bundled with development version of Stockfish that can be enabled optionally and updated periodically. Nit: Why does this app create SQLite files under Downloads folder? Should it not be inside the application folder.

Version 3.0.14 AND iPAD OS - Problems

AvianoSaint

Several features listed in this version 3 Do Not Work. Dropbox PGN exports to Analyze This - A “failed - unsupported link” message is now the result. Self-Play (Pro only) (1) Only implemented in the Android version despite being listed as a new feature. (2) I have found no way to adjust playing strength. (3) There is No after game analysis available for the finished game, pressing the center bottom button sends you to a new board setup. INSTEAD USE THE free “Chess Moves” app!! It allows both strength adjustment and after game analysis in “Analyze This”. (4) Playing from a SETUP position, apparently you have to use “Chess Moves (2 Player)” and send the position to “ Analyze This” via “Share Game”. ——— Features prior to this version 3 work and are great. Chess engine Stockfish 10 is used. Move analysis can total up to 10 lines of analysis. Importing games from both Follow Chess and Chess Moves work fine. NEARLY EVERY iOS CHESS APP will no longer have Dropbox export to the chess app. (Chess Studio by Giodano Vicoli does not have this problem!) The new iPad OS has reeked havoc on Dropbox’s Exporting of PGNs to several chess apps that I own, not just Analyze This. Is this Dropbox’s or Apple’s responsibility to fix?

Great work !

Aidin299

No doubt this app is the best one in app store for analyzing a chess game or a given position or PGN format , with multiple lines. Thanks to developers.....?

Good app

audaciousgeek

Works good

Great app, could have small improvements

Person385395

Very powerful, great integration with iChess puzzles. Improvements needed: doesn’t remember settings for chessboard color! Would be nice to not show arrow for the side you are playing. There is an option but it turns off arrows for both sides.

App Works Perfectly Now

Ricky the Cactus Chess Comet

I wrote a review saying the app didn’t work correctly, which was true, but the fault was at my end. When I installed the latest iPad update, the app started working perfectly. My apologies for the unfair bad review. This is a wonderfully crafted and well thought out app. Thanks.

Split view not quite working

Robert Ryan

I really like that this app, like so few others, supports split screen multitasking, but it doesn’t quite work. When you enter split screen multitasking, the screen is not re-rendered for the new screen size, so it’s not usable. But if I rotate device and rotate back, it is properly re-rendering during orientation changes. But I feel silly rotating my device back and forth just to get it to recognize the new split view screen size.
