Makes sharing movies between devices so easy

oldAppliance

Transferring movies to my phone or iPad was always a pain. Airdrop them over they end up in my photo gallery where they don’t belong. Figuring out how the latest movie player imports movies is always super painful. Airplay takes all that guess work out of the equation. Set up your directories. Launch the app your laptop. Launch the app on you device. Super easy. Thank you, developers!

Doesn’t work with iPadOS 14

This app worked great up through version iPadOS 13, but it doesn’t work with iPadOS 14. I’ll update my rating if the developer fixes the app to work with this latest version (of iPadOS 14).

Color theme for the new update

cpa016

I absolutely love using this app but recently I think there was an update that changed the color theme to something that is basically light blue on a light gray and it’s very hard to see the directory structure anymore up top as well as the sorting buttons in the top menu bar. They need to build in some sort of dark theme or allow to use the old color space. Devs, I hope you do see this review and are able to either correct this or allow the user to change the color theme to something darker with more contrast.

When it works, it's great

bkDJk

But it's been working less and less. Some examples of issues: 1) impossible to read directory path at the top (light gray text on whitish bluish background that leaves ugly empty space for the status bar. 2) when using an external screen (e.g. HDMI cable) you have to tap “X” twice to exit a playing video. Tapping only once takes you to a mostly empty screen that will cause the app crash if you hit play. 3) certain video codec settings don't work properly even with forced”forced conversion” 4) lack of updates means lack of support for all the latest codec features like HDR. This was the best app on the App Store once, but do not buy this expecting any continued development.

Rock Solid for 7 Years!

I’ve used Air Video HD since May 2011. I deeply miss the UI as shown on the InMethod site where one gets the Server side of the Air Video HD. The September 2013 updates with the new UI have served me well. It’s now October 2020 and Air Video HD is worth many times more than it’s incredibly low price. Here’s to a 2020 update to support the server side in Big Sur and beyond. It’s good upgrades will cost more and I will happily pay. Thank InMethod for Air Video HD.

still a great app, great interface, great features.

Developer, please give us a way to support you so you can continue development. Air Video HD is worth it! An update would be amazing. 4k support. H.265, dark mode, Big Sur server side, etc! Don’t do it for free, we’ll happily pay!

The best for years now

I love this app, it’s the best out there, no problems at all,

Streaming ease to iPad with subs : timing question

mypaperstuff

Update: downloaded vids don't seem to allow adjusting timing of subtitles. Am I missing something? This is the best feature of the app when streaming. / original review follows/ Maybe other apps will stream, but the real beauty of this one for me is the ability to adjust timing of subtitles that may be off by several seconds. Ok, that sounds niche, but why praise it for all the other reasons already given? One of the apps I use the most. A+++

Does the job

A nice way to send video to your iPhone or iPad. I like how you can easily select quality and download to your device for later viewing. I paid for features for this app and also in the previous incarnation. I hope this app isn’t abandoned like the last one.

Works beautifully

RogerJr

Works beautifully with just about every video file I’ve thrown at it. Runs for hours without even a hiccup. Grab an older PC or Mac to use as a server, and presto. WAY better than Plex, although it doesn’t have the catchy interface with movie posters, theme music etc. Actually I’m not sure if that’s a blessing or a curse, as it doesn’t have a huge content database to get corrupted or a need for third-party server support either.
