OMG...yes, that bad !

Come on Adobe, you can do better than this. I guess it’s fine, if you like a finger painting any 3 year old could do.

Way Too Dangerous for me!

JDpomme

I’m having WAYYY too much fun with this - taking some of my favorite images and really creating cool art. I’m consumer level user - no particular photo editing skills - so this is quite rewarding. I did need to climb the learning curve - was intimidated a first, then watched a few tutorials, and was able to create a desirable image.

Serves a specific professional need.

A skilled artist may not have any use for this but as a designer without painting skills, this fits several needs. I can turn a photo into useable design art for various uses. I do wish I could turn the canvas like I can in Procreate. I’d also like some kind of smooth or straight line assist feature. Please don’t stop here. There are many designers who could use this in their business especially with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for!

I’ve been looking for something like this—I love to paint but don’t have time to get everything out, work for hours and clean up. I love the impressionists and that is the style I try to paint in. But when I paint on a canvas, I always get bogged down with too much detail and it doesn’t turn out that way. This program doesn’t let me do that. It stays loose and interpretive. I can take a photo that looks good for composition but is just that, a photo. Then I can turn it into something I might see in a high end gallery. I can make a masterpiece in half an hour, with no clean up! I take the piece as far as I can in PaintCan and then work on it in Procreate to fine tune it—clean up stray lines and maybe tweak a color or detail. I recommend working on a tablet with a matching e-pencil rather than just your fingers on a phone. You will get much better results. In fact I’d say, don’t bother unless you have this. I’m loving this app! Can’t wait to see how it gets improved.

Fun App

Fun app!

Almost there

I love the functionality of this app, but the resolution is so low! I feel like it should at least export at the same size of the original image, but the final images are always so much smaller! The app winds up being nearly useless for me because the resolution is so bad. I LOVE the app, it’s tools, the way I can be creative with it, but if I can’t print any of it, what’s the point?

Paintcan: Active Creativity & Calming

I’m an artist and violin teacher who LOVES this app! Not only can I spend hours making everyday photos painterly, but the active task of manipulating the photos by hand while watching the colors & shapes morph into soft, abstract yet realistic representations soothes & calms me too! Highly Recommend this app! Easy & Intuitive to Use I love using Paintcan not only with personal photos, but with dazzling Unsplash.com (Free to Use for Anything Photos) Photos too. Have Fun!
