Seriously just great

Leyna Tran

Okay, so for an unfit 16 year old like me who's only into video games, drawing, an being an unproductive potato, this app is fantastic. As said 16 year old girl who's been out of PE since sophomore year and doesn't get exercise elsewhere, can't drive to a gym, and doesn't have the motivation do will myself into exercising, this app is fantastic. I love love love playing video games, with a preference for first person shooters, and this is like the ultimate first person shooter with the added bonus of eventually giving me the body that makes me look like I don't sit at my computer for hours at a time. It's so great and honestly fun, and so easy because all you need is a chair and a wall. The Six to Start apps are extremely innovative, and it is so cool how they utilize functions of your phone.

Would be great if it was customizable...

I desperately want to like this app. I like games, I like superheroes, and while I don't much like exercising I like things that make exercising more enjoyable. I was really hoping the Superhero Workout would do that. Unfortunately, the app lacks a critical feature: the ability to exclude certain exercises from a workout. People with mobility-limiting injuries (or who just live on an upper floor) may not be able to do certain exercises, but the only way to skip those exercises is to sit idle waiting for the timer to count down (or wave your hand a bunch to try to convince the motion sensor you're doing reps). At a bare minimum, the app should provide a "Skip" functionality for each exercise in a workout so you can skip the ones you can't do; and should show a complete list of all exercises in a workout prior to starting the workout, so you can see before starting a workout how many exercises in it you're able to do. Ideally, the app should have a selectable list of exercises so users can tailor their workouts to their own bodies and environment. +1 star because I love the concept; -3 stars because I can't use it due to a critical design flaw. :(

Love the workout

The workouts are fun, the storyline is interesting, and the tech is great. It makes for a nice distraction from the work out. Once you beat all 20 story missions, a minor bug occurs in that the next mission is displayed as 'NULL' but it still allows you to select it, where you are brought to a blank page.

Not for kids

Way to much cursing and use of God's name in vain. Gross.

Tough for someone out of shape

This is a really cool app if you want to make your workouts more interesting. However, unlike other Six to Start apps, this one is not adaptable to all fitness levels. I'm a little ashamed to say that I'm going to have to work up to having enough strength to do the exercises in this game. If I could keep up with it, I'd give it four stars. The only problem I had with it was placing the phone where the camera could track me. It needs to be high for standing exercises, but low for floor exercises.

Sync to Health app please

Seems fine - but want it to sync with Apple health app.

Kicks your butt :)

A couple of things for people considering this app: 1) The moves/workouts are difficult and not customizable. If this is a problem for you start with a different app and consider working up to this one. 2) It's not child friendly. At all. Don't get it for your children. It's an app for adults who don't mind profanity. 3) You have to move the phone in between exercises, depending on where the moves are being done. You are given enough time to do this. 4) Reps aren't counted perfectly. That's because the app uses the technology it has available. i.e. The little camera on your phone. It is far from perfect technology. If these things do not pose a problem to you, then this is a great, 5 star app! It's fun, it's effective, it gets you up off your butt while engaging your imagination with a story that makes you feel like a hero! I am really enjoying it and plan to continue my superhero training for a long time! ?

Great

I absolutely loved this app. It got me working out, which is something that I don't usually do. If there is one thing that I would change, its the fact that I would add more story missions.

Ok

I really enjoyed Zombies, Run! So I got this with the bundle. I think the concept is good and it gives you a good variety. However, the camera placement leaves something to be desired - I had to get up about a half dozen times to figure out a new place to put the thing. Another negative is that this is not for beginners. I completed a workout but I don't think I will be using it again because I couldn't quite lose myself in the game.

good concept, bad execution

First of all, app is inconsistent on delivering the biggest promise of counting reps via camera. While it usually double counts, some exercises don't use the counter on the other hand. And you're on your own with calibrating the camera, again which does not have any indicator on whether it "sees" you properly. Some kind of calibration indicator has to be implemented asap. It also fails on reporting to the Apple Health front, which is a huge bummer when the selling point is the precision and automation. Just integrate it already. And there is no support whatsoever for any kind of feedback. I don't need the storyline, I'm in for the functions. So, I don't think this is worth the money until these issues are resolved.
