Cookie clone failure. – Virus Clickers Review

This game was obviously an attempt to make a Cookie Clickers style game with more purpose. It succeeds at that, but just barely. Not even enough for a second star. The game is so imbalanced that I was able to afford the highest upgrade in about thirty seconds of clicking, without buying any of the lower upgrades at all. The upgrades have no noticeable effect except to cause your virus number to go up faster. After you get that last upgrade, the virus multiplies so fast there's never an incentive to use the lower upgrades at all. In Cookie Clickers, the upgrades became more expensive the more you purchase them, giving incentive to but the lower upgrades and work your way up. In Virus Clickers, the upgrades always stay the same price. That leads to constantly clicking (only) the highest upgrade button until you've killed the host. Killing the host is an exercise in futility. Even when you do beat the levels (which each took me less than ten minutes), you get nothing but points. No trophies, no upgrades, no graphics, no cutscenes. Just a screen showing your score. These points cannot be used for upgrades, or anything else. I beat the final level within an hour of downloading the game, and now there is absolutely no reason to continue playing. The incentive in Cookie Clickers was to see how high you can get your score. In this game you never get that chance because once you reach a certain number of viruses, it's over. This game takes all the best parts of Cookie Clickers - the tiered upgrades and massive score numbers - and throws them out the window, keeping the pointless and tedious parts intact. If you want an addictive clicking game, get Cookie Clickers. This virulent snooze-fest is not the game you're looking for.
