Very pretty, but that's distracting – Battle Ship ~ PirateFleet 2 Review

The focus on graphics has diminished the gameplay. The bright, moving sea makes it hard to see the light grid lines. The explosions when you hit a ship are pretty, but they take an inordinate amount of time. And like the previous version, there's a parrot that pops up and announces things the player is already aware of, requiring the player to dismiss it. I'm sure the offense/defense things will interest some folks, but the design focus was clearly not on gameplay, but on "wow". "Wow" is neat for the first few seconds, then it's just in the way forever after.
