Not as bad as some claim – Smart Traveler Review

Have to specify the country twice to get info about it? Not always. Say you want a directory of embassies. You tap "Countries" and then the country. If you then tap "US Embassies/Consulates" it will take you to USEmbassy.gov and you'll need to do some zooming and tapping to get the desired info. Instead of tapping "US Embassies/Consulates", tap "Know Before You Go" and then "Embassy Location". That will get you directly to the info quickly and easily. Data a year old? Maybe the app is using data from its built-in cache instead of the website. Be sure you have Internet connectivity, then tap "More" and "Clear Cached Data". You will see, "Your e-itineraries and custom RSS feeds are NOT removed." Tap "Yes". Now tap "Warnings" or "Alerts" and the latest info about that topic will be downloaded. [Note: It appears that when the app can't connect to the web (e.g., in Airplane Mode), warnings and alerts are shown anyway; I suppose they are old versions that the app keeps around.] Unfriendly but not completely useless.
