Only for native speakers – Duolingo - Language Lessons Review

Duolingo does not actually teach a language; it only corrects what it sees as mistakes (and it only accepts its own version of “correct”, which is pretty frustrating as noted by multiple native speakers). This app likes to test on material and words that have not been used before, and when the guessed answer is wrong (how could it not be when you’ve never seen it before?), it makes sure to blast a nasty sound and message to remind you that you failed. How is it that the user failed when the Duolingo app doesn’t teach? I’m looking for a new language app to get away from such a condescending experience.
