would be really fun without massive paywall – SimCity BuildIt Review

just like many other games, this would be really fun if there was a more efficient way to earn simoleans. as you continue to play, it becomes harder and harder to meet objectives, make necessary upgrades, and expand your city, without spending real money on the game. the rate at which you earn simoleans in comparison to the cost of items makes a large portion of the game feel unattainable. the game would be more fun if leveling/expansion slowed down and the cost of items was reduced, so that people could play the game and create cool cities that they like without having to grind for simoleans constantly just to make their city look semi decent & be functional. it has become a constant production game rather than a cool city building game. i feel the number of types of buildings available makes it seem that the cost of the buildings is only to slow down players and keep them interested in the game because there isn’t that much content available and if it were easier they would stop playing sooner when they’ve effectively “beat” the game. it would also be better if the game was more centered on having and visiting friends. more detail: as a breakdown of the pay rate… one of the fastest money earning items in this game are nails. they sell max for $80. they take 5 mins to make. as a result, if i grind selling nails, the following items will take this long to save up for: dept. of education: cost=$40,000 time=41.6 hours dept. of transportation: cost=$40,000 time=41.6 hours fusion power plant: cost=$90,000 time=93.75 hours water pumping station: cost=$45,000 time=46.875 hours deluxe sewage treatment plant: cost=$35,000 time=36.45 hours police precinct: cost=$36,000 time=37.5 hours recycling center: cost=$60,000 time=62.5 hours deluxe fire station: cost=$22,000 time=22.91 hours now that’s not to say that’s how long it takes to save for each of those items, as you certainly can make money in other ways while also making and selling nails. however, most of those items you need more than one, if not many of them, to expand your city. additionally, the time calculated is time spent playing the game. i play games like these during my breaks throughout the day and before bed so it would take me forever to earn any one of these items. my current situation: im currently at level 15, need more capacity for power, water, sewage, and waste management. i don’t have any more space to build more residential buildings without having to buy more police and fire stations, and this entire time i have only been able to buy the cheapest service items yet. i have not been able to get any of those more expensive upgrades nor the dept. of education or transportation, which also significantly limits my ability to spend the keys i’ve earned as well. additionally, because i need to upgrade those service items, my people are not as happy so i make less money on a daily basis and the game becomes nearly unplayable (read: not fun to play). i also need a gardening supplies store still which i simply havent been able to buy yet. i cannot upgrade or grow my population to make more money because i am already lacking services. so im at the point where id have to grind selling nails for 40 hours straight.
