Counting steps question – Pacer Pedometer & Step Tracker Review

I recently upgraded to the newest version of this app and have a question. On the previous app ~2,000 steps = 1 mile. With this version ~2,000 steps = .60 mile thus requiring 3,000 steps to = 1 mile. Why the discrepancy? Other than this, I like the app very much. Thanks!
