Wants to like it – Draw Something Classic Review

Jan 2021 - I come back to this game now and again and won’t deny that when I was playing it frequently, it really helped improve my drawing ability. It still glitches on me (as reported below), which is disappointing after 2 years, but…. I played last night and was timed out after ~ 8 minutes (I think but am not certain). Trying to determine what a reasonable amount of time to practice “quick drawing” on my own, I thought I’d time how long I was allowed on this game. I finished the drawing quickly and let the time run and updated my review to include the following. I just checked my stopwatch and the clock was still running at 27:49. I’m pretty sure I’ve never been allowed that much time when I was actually drawing… so, add inconsistency to my report below…. I don’t understand how the developer can receive so much feedback about the same things, but not respond. For instance, I have all the colors and there have been repeated requests for a better sorting/selection system than scrolling from “A-Z” (x6). I also don’t understand the purpose of the coins after collecting all the colors… I’ve got and keep collecting thousands of coins, but can only get rid of them when shuffling word options (which I can only do once now, unless I watch an ad). It’s a good game, no doubt, but it seems more like an advertising machine than an actual game now. I don’t remember there being so many ads before (unless I opted to watch them)… when I’m faced with an ad, I close the app and restart it. It probably takes the same amount of time, but the ads are painfully annoying. October 2019 - after learning to deal with glitches that seem to be commented on a lot In reviews (screen freezing, stuck on load page, etc) by restarting my iPad, I started using this app as a way to develop a daily drawing practice. I’ve slipped out of the routine for a month because I was getting tired, but just started again this week. I last night, I remembered three of the primary things that drive me nuts about this app: whenever I’m prompted to hurry up because of time, 1) the last pen stroke is not recorded (so I have to start from where I left off before the memo...if it’s just a small stroke, NBD, but if I’ve just colored a huge section without lifting my pen, then it’s a bigger deal, OR the last pen stroke is “moved” - usually to the right side of the screen - so I have to go erase it and redo. Erasing isn’t a problem if that area is a solid color, but when I’ve spent time detailing the section, it’s pretty frustrating. 2) more frustrating than #1, though, is when I press the “undo” button and then my drawing is chopped in half. The right half of the drawing is erased and the left half is copied and pasted onto the right side of the screen. The finished product that the other user sees, though, is intact (though the right side is clearly unfinished). This happens sporadically - maybe nice every 7-10 drawings. When I’m working on something that’s turning out well, it’s incredibly frustrating for it to be ruined. June 2019 - Played one game (drew pic) then started another. App froze when starting second game. Received notification that I can guess someone’s drawing but returned me to frozen screen.
