A 2022 Review of the Game – Plants vs. Zombies™ Heroes Review

Plants vs. Zombies Heros is a strategy game implementing the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. It is enjoyable to play, but it does have a few significant issues that make it hard for me to enjoy it fully. Firstly, the game has two hundred levels for Plant Missions and Zombie Missions each. Taking turns, players will play cards to kill the others' hero. The levels are perfect time-killers, and I find myself enjoying them. On top of that, the game offers a daily challenge for players to complete for prizes and an online mode. In addition, the online mode is a ranked-styled PvP match against other players. If you win a round, you will get some "points,"; hence moving up in the ranks. However, I was often paired with people on higher levels than me. For example, I was once paired with a rank 20 while on rank 11. So I find the online mode unbalanced, but still fun when I receive people around my level. Another in-game feature is the Friends feature. It allows you to friend others, but I find it implemented horribly. For example, I can only send messages to my friends when they are online. This gets very annoying over some time. Another thing I found frustrating with the Friends feature is the lack of content within the feature. In addition, I find myself wanting to know when my friends come online. But, the game does not offer notifications for that. However, the game does allow you to verse your friends, which I enjoy; but again, it has a problem: it does not notify you. It would be much better if I got notifications when a friend wanted to verse me rather than never knowing. The game also offers a Packs store and a Collection. The Pack store essentially allows you to purchase new cards. Then the Collection shows you what cards you own out of all of them. This feature is pretty enjoyable, and I often want to collect new cards. The game also seems to have another "big" issue: updates. In addition, the developer, EA, has hardly added any significant changes in a while; I feel they are prioritizing their other games in the franchise over this game. Lastly, pairing is the most frustrating thing within the game. In addition, when I tried to pair my phone's account to my Ipad's account by Facebook, it did not work. It seems the only other way is by an EA account, which I can't even access due to me selecting a random age at the beginning of the game (I cannot change the age now without losing progress), which put me as "underaged." Therefore, it seems like I can only play on my phone without losing my progress. I beg the developers to fix this issue. Overall, I have to give this game a 3/5. It offers a fun and unique playstyle but has numerous issues that decrease its satisfaction. Would I recommend this game to others; yes, you have to be willing to tolerate the game's many frustrating limitations, though.
