Too DRAFTY – NASCAR Heat Mobile Review

I really enjoyed an earlier version of this game. I grabbed this version based solely on what my experience was with the earlier version. I don’t mind saying that I’m a good bit disappointed. If I recall correctly, my desktop version of NASCAR Heat was 2004, and you qualified for starting position rather than the obligatory 35th thru 40th spots. The Roval is singularly the dumbest thing I’ve ever experienced as you have almost no control over your car in assist mode-totally undriveable in manual mode. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still just as impressed with this games representation of Watkins Glen as I could be, but the Roval? Twenty thousand thumbs down on that Jules. But the worst thing about this game is the drafting. Very much like Martin Short, you have the EMphasis on the wrong SYLlable. Phoenix is a one mile track that basically has two straightaways that even put end to end would not require the drafting of which you expect. Yet at your edition of the Kansas track, which is a)Bigger b)Faster c)Wider, ALL very conducive to drafting, is paltry compared to Phoenix’s. I’m still playing because there’s nothing else like starting 40th at Indianapolis and realizing you gotta back off turn four because when you don’t back off turn four and you take the lead before the end of the first lap, you don’t meet the challenge requirements. Chuck the Roval, do something about the draft in Phoenix and it would be a five star game. As it is, 3 is the most I can give you and that’s a stretch.
