Completely misleading—Ad free version is not truly ad free – Paint.ly: Color by Number Review

I’m so annoyed that I actually paid for this garbage. $4.99 to remove ads—great. Happy Color has the same deal—or so it seems. With Happy Color, I paid the $4.99, get unlimited hints, and don’t get harassed while I’m coloring. With Paint.ly, you just get 3 free hints. Fine, a little stingy, but not really a problem. But what *is* a problem is that this even though ads themselves aren’t popping up, what *is* popping up, CONSTANTLY, is the little lightbulb hint icon with additional hints available for the price of watching an ad. Oh, that’s easy to ignore, you say? Not so fast. These aren’t the little prompts hanging out subtly in the very top corner of the screen. No, these are huge, and they pop up right in your face, at the very edge of the picture, or on top of it if you’re zooming in. They flash to get your attention, and you can’t dismiss them—you have to just wait them out until they go away on their own, EXACTLY LIKE AN AD. And if you *do* try to wait them out, they’ll just continue popping up over and over and over and OVER literally every few seconds. This happens 100% of the time, even if you haven’t touched your free hints. There is no option to simply opt out of seeing them and just stick to the 3 free hints. The whole point of a coloring app is to unwind, but this is downright aggravating to the point of making the app worthless. And if you want to upgrade to premium (which *might* get rid of the ad prompts, but who knows)? Why, that’s a mere $10/month or $8 a WEEK. For a freaking coloring app. I honestly dont understand how anyone can stand this app. My advice is to stick with Happy Color. If you pay for their ad-free version, it’s actually ad free and not just a sleazy, loophole-ridden imitation.
