Nutrition-professor approved! Best nutrient-analysis app out.. – Calorie Counter by Cronometer Review

I have been using Cronometer both personally and professionally for around 5 years now and I can't say enough about how wonderful this app is. I have a PhD in nutrition and teach college students a 'Nutrition 101' class. Each semester my classes do a dietary analysis project where they track and learn about how they eat--and how well nourished (or not) they are. We used to use one of the 'gold standard' programs--that had been used by dietitians and researchers worldwide for years (called Nutritionist Pro.) Problem is, it was unwieldy and not user-friendly. Enter Crono. This app does everything that Nut-Pro did and more. And what I love about this app is that they constantly make it better. I have been in touch with the company over the years about certain features. I sometimes deal with students with eating disorders and often it is triggering for them to monitor calories. Crono came to the rescue and added a feature where you can TURN OFF this output. So someone who wants to learn more about they eat but not focus on fat and/or kcals, can still learn about the nutrients they are getting. Everything about is fantastic--you can add notes in your food log area, which is extremely helpful--rather than just have a long list of food items or ingredients, you can add a note to separate out the meals 'breakfast', 'lunch' etc. Or include a synopsis at the top so you don't have to inspect the ingredients to figure out the basic meal pattern you had that day. Most of all is the emphasis on micronutrients. Most apps--and most people--wrongly focus on the macronutrients. But our cells need all the essential micronutrients to function so our body systems can do their thing...Crono makes this so visible and easy to interpret that it's invaluable. Also it updates AS you enter foods, so at any given time you can monitor your status. Some apps wait till the end of the day to reveal the nutrient analysis. Highly recommend this app.
