Required app for LEAF drivers; works superbly – LEAF Energy - For The Nissan LEAF Review

As LEAF drivers already know, your driving range is dependent upon many factors the sum of which can be difficult to assess accurately. And given the LEAF maximum range, any trip over 30 miles one way needs to be assessed accurately, including the whereabouts of recharging stations, if any. The wonderful app takes into consideration the vehicles battery capacity, state of charge, distance to be traveled, battery temperature, vehicle odometer (as an indicator of battery age), origin and destination elevation, your expected use of the energy-hogging climate control, and your anticipated average speed. Even better, for your particular trip the app calculates the minimum energy efficiency you must drive to achieve to make your destination. This last figure is the best way to manage your actual driving as the vehicle gives you both instantaneous efficiency as you drive and a cumulative efficiency since the last reset. As with any such calculator regardless of vehicle type, your mileage may (will?) vary. But this has been the most accurate estimator and trip planner I've seen, and it is far more on-target than the vehicle's guess-o-meter display on the dash. You will need the recent v1.1.2 to get a recent fix. Also, the developer Eric Marschner actually responds to app feedback and has incorporated improvement after improvement throughout this app's life cycle. Do not leave home without this app tailored to the capacity and vagaries of the Nissan LEAF.
