Fun, but awkward workflow is disappointing! – My Cartoon Review

This app produces a variety of nice cartoon effects that I like a lot, but is seriously hampered by a few workflow issues. First, the app processes and saves my 12mp high res images loaded from my Camera Roll, at a very low resolution of 554x740 or 0.4mp on my iPad2. Fortunately, for this type of image FX the low res "issue" is not a deal-killer for me. The images can easily be upsized for printing without much of a problem, although that is an extra step in the workflow that doesn't need to be there. A higher res output is ALWAYS prefered as opposed to having to upsample. The more seriuos issues are with the processing workflow. Whether working with images in your Photo Library, you have to choose the FX you want first, then load the image to see the results. To change the FX, you go back, and choose a new FX but then have to reload the image again. This gets old fast. Images are "saved" in an in-app Gallery for later review and sharing, but cannot be loaded and reedited from there. Not a big deal. When set to Autosave, each time you apply an FX, the image is saved, so you get a lot of test shots you ultimately have to go back and delete if you are trying to find the right effect. Once I turned Autosave off, the image is still saved to the in-app Gallery, and can be exported to the Camera Roll thru the Share button. A much better option. Lastly, the app forces you to use a fixed aspect (rectangle) in portrait mode. You can zoom and position in the fixed "crop window". But if you want to apply an effect to an image that is in landscape orientation, without cropping to portrait, you have to rotate your image 90 degrees first in another app before you use this app. Then after you are done applying the FX and saving the file, leave the app, load a different app and re-rotate the image back again to landscape. That gets old really, really fast! I installed the app today when it was free. As it stands, I would be very disappointed in the app had I had to pay for it. While the effects are nice, and varied, the functionality/workflow leave a lot to be desired. Fix the workflow "problems" and the star-rating gets improved! I'll be hoping and watching for an Update!
