Used to be Better – Atomic Ball Review

Before the 2.x update I had given this game 5 stars. The update really decreased the game's fun factor. You now have to "buy" power balls with points-- which you either buy with real money or earn by playing. The rate at which you accrue points by playing is absurdly slow though so obviously Meritum Soft is hoping you'll spend real money to buy points. The result is there are fewer balls in play so the game is less dynamic and interesting than it used to be. Also, once you play through all levels you no longer have the ability to "bookmark" your place as you play through the levels again... unless of course you "buy" a pass to continue from where you left off-- at a cost of 100 points. That's not a one-time purchase BTW, that's100 points *every time* you die if you want to continue from where you left off. Even the worlds in the previous version were more visually interesting. The worlds now feel flat and mundane. If this 2.x version were their first release of the game I'd probably give it 3 stars, but having played the earlier version of the game I know how much better it used to be. I'm disappointed Meritum Soft polluted a good game for purely mercenary reasons.
