Great Idea. Bad Execution (Connection issues galore) – Amazon Fire TV Review

This a great idea! And when it works it can be a life saver when the remote is nowhere to be found. However often it doesn’t work. On most uses I have to restart the app completely closing It out for it to actually connect to my firetv. I once even had to do a fresh install. The issue is that it doesn’t reconnect in a appropriate manner of time or at all even when singed in through your Amazon account. Now disconnecting when the app is closed or the screen turns off is perfectly fine and should be done to save data and network bandwidth, however when the devices just won’t reconnect, it makes it basically useless. On the other side when it does manage to reconnect it messes with tv. For example on occasion if I let it sleep while I’m reading something or looking at something like on prime video or Netflix and it disconnects it automatically pushes me back to the top of the app. And that’s just one of the issues I have with it. Another is that some times if I use it to go to a show and then I use my regular Alex echo to do something or go somewhere it will at times just automatically play whatever I was watching last. Even if I go to play something else or exit out and go home. It just will relaunch what I was previously watching last time I used the app (I never had that issue till after I used this app). I don’t say any of this as a slight at the developers because it truly is an awesome idea and great when it works like it is supposed to. But bugs that aren’t talked about are bugs that don’t get fixed.
