Problems with images – Rosetta Stone: Learn Languages Review

My main complaint with this app is that on an iPhone, I often have a hard time telling what the images are supposed to be, even when I zoom in. In some cases they’re just too small to see, even if I zoom in 2x using Apple’s screen zoom feature. The worst one so far was when I was shown a pink blanket, sheet, towel, and pillow. They all looked like pink blankets. The other issue is when the image relies on facial expressions and body language to convey something — often the facial features are too small to make out, or the ‘acting’ just isn’t clear. This is a case where a cartoon would actually be better than a photo, because expressions could be exaggerated. Finally, I can’t always tell the gender of the people in the images. When you have a short-haired woman bent over a sink, washing her hair, and I can’t see her face, or a young boy with a unisex haircut and his body is covered by a blanket, I don’t know what I’m looking at. Wouldn’t matter if the exercises didn’t specify man/woman/boy/girl, but since they do, it would help if the images were more obvious.
