Individual Plans – Remind: School Communication Review

I use the app and it works well enough, but I have several issues: 1) Setting office hours doesn’t make it impossible for students to message you. What is the point then? I get messages at 11 pm and then feel compelled to respond. If I set office hours, please make it so students and parents cannot even message me outside of them. 2) When I click on a class, I still have to select that class to message. It makes no sense. Separate the buttons. When I select a class, I want to message that class. Don’t make me again select the same class! Small issue, but it’s irritating. Make a separate button in the main menu for messaging multiple classes. 3) I understand standard text messages are 160 characters, however smartphones now will accept longer messages without breaking them up, so this argument seems baseless, especially since the paid version allows for longer messages. So the character limit isn’t ACTUALLY the problem. It’s that Remind wants us to spend money. Which is realistic. Just don’t lie. 4) This brings me to my biggest issue: why can’t I sign up for an individual paid version as a teacher? Why does my entire school need to sign up? Most ed tech apps allow individual teacher paid accounts. That Remind STILL does not absolutely boggles my mind.
