Horrible “Recommended Homes” Feed! – Redfin Homes for Sale & Rent Review

I used to love this app- back in 2018-19 when the Feed tab recommendations actually had houses that fit my search criteria. I would check the app and see what new houses had come up that I might be interested in. There might be some slightly out of my normal search criteria, but mostly reasonable. No more. Everything changed in early 2020. Things show up that are double or triple our actual price range. Homes actually in our price range never show up in my feed at all. It’s ridiculous. No, Redfin, I don’t want to see massively expensive houses I can’t afford while you simultaneously avoid showing the ones I can afford in my search area. Some update around or shortly after the new year in 2020 made this app almost useless. To indicate how useless- houses that we have actually made offers on and went to see in person never showed up in the feed. At all. The feed so badly represents what I’m looking for that I cannot rely on it to show me things I want to see. Before 2020, it worked great. I keep opening it hoping it will have reverted to a useful app again... but only encounter disappointment and frustration. I used to also be able to hit a button that said “don’t show homes above $x price” but that is gone and now it just wants me to look at rich people houses so I get annoyed. Edit in 2021- the house that we eventually purchased NEVER made it into my Redfin recommended feed. The app continued to insist on showing homes out of my price range, out of the area I was searching, etc. It never recommended about half the homes we actually had interest in- houses in my preferred area and real price range. We had to use other apps to find homes we might actually buy- if I had relied on this one we would have missed out on our house entirely! So glad I checked other apps!
