Pay to play everyday – Hustle Castle: Kingdom defense Review

I have been playing this game since it first came out. I liked it, enjoyed the battles, the building up of the castle, the building up of the army. However, I realized that I spent a lot of money to make all of that happen. Recently, I stopped spending money and that’s when it becomes noticeable that, as many have said, the game favors people who pay. Since I have played this game for years, I am going to give my honest observations and opinions, given that I have spent more than enough time to give a fuller review. First and foremost, once you stop paying for a premium level, your resources are SEVERELY limited. It goes from having massive storage of spells, to only having 9. That’s not the worst part though, it’s the battles. When you are a premium member you can fight at a normal speed, sometimes even a little more accelerated. Once you are no longer a premium member, the speed at which you fight becomes so slow, it is PAINFUL. It is almost laughable at how slow they will make your army move. It immediately takes the joy away from playing, and your desire to play greatly decreases. Also, I have a lot of “friends,” whom I can give resources to daily. When you are a premium member you can give ALL of your friends the resources they need, once again, if you are not a premium member, you can only give a certain amount, until you wait 12 hours. Another annoyance is that if you want extra resources, you have to watch an ad. That’s OK, what bothers me is that when you are in the Dungeon, the ad is so long, that many times I have lost my ally in the dungeon. You would think the ads would be shorter in, at least, that particular context. What’s more, is ads are LONG and annoying, and some even take you out of the game, throw you into the App Store, only for you to have to return to the game. Sometime I will use the goblin assistant, he’s good, culls your resources while away. However, once he’s done, you are on your own, so you lose a lot of resources. At least with him, you can use diamonds to pay, the only way to get a premium membership is to spend real (non-game) money. One other thing is there are runes, which enhance a players ability tremendously. Here’s the problem, it’s a luck of the draw to actually attain a rune. Also, if you are a higher level, the rune might not work, since they are specific to certain skill levels. So, for example, if you have a soldier at 100, but the rune only works from levels 60-70, that rune is useless until you train a new warrior. The Gem Bay: I hate it. They stack the players, especially during an event, to make sure you don’t succeed in winning the entire time. They, especially, like to put the hardest group on the last one, which prevents you from winning. If you are lucky, you have an ad you can watch to restore, but it doesn’t count towards successfully beating the entire Gem Bay. Also, if you merge a gem and they give you a percentage, say 70 percent success, expect for it to be unsuccessful. You need to use scrolls in order to enhance success. If you don’t have any, it’s a luck of the draw. The Dungeon: it’s fun until it’s not. Sometimes they create bosses that are nearly impossible to beat, no matter your skill level or your allies. I also, as with many people, HATE mirror fighting and fighting your allies. I lose more than I win, and it sets a bad precedent when you are playing with someone. It’s a fun game, but be prepared to spend some cash if you really want to advance or, at the very least, have a decent speed at which you can battle. Like I said, I have played for years, am at around level 8000, but have seen the good and bad of this game. Unfortunately, right now, especially, if you are not a premium member, the game is not worth it, especially, if you plan to advance to higher levels. Again, my honest opinion and observations. I will probably continue playing or, at least, wait until there is another event where I might score some premium stuff, including a premium membership. Until then, I will let my castle “be sad” until that happens.
