Is now an advertising app with some content in between. – Crackle - Movies & TV Review

Crackle has some solid content - originals you typically can’t find elsewhere (Start Up, Snatch etc). It’s always been ad supported but the amount of advertising was okay...maybe reasonable. But here is what it looks like now... - start a show..5 ads - maybe a minute or two of content - 5 ads - 5 minutes of content - 5 ads - 2 minutes of content then I pause the show for 15 minutes to do something else...return and hit play...within a minute...another 5 ads. It seems Crackle views pausing for any length of time as another opportunity to feed you 5 ads (typically the same ones)... even if your pause was soon after a set of 5 ads. Plus... - any show or film you leave partially watched will deliver you 5 ads soon after you begin your next watch without any regard to how recently you were fed your last set of ads - the app itself is clumsy and antiquated. The only items that appear in your continue watching section are partially watched films, episodes and recent spotlight trailers Crackle fed you at its own behest. The app seems incapable of putting the next episode of the show you are already watching into the continue section like...pretty much every other app that has a continue section...which is most of them. I have to remember which show or shows I am watching and then search for it just to find it. And...yes...I am signed in. - when setting up the app in iOS...it indicates it requires Bluetooth access. What?? Why??? Never did before. I did not allow and it still seems to work. Much of the worst behavior began showing up after Chicken Soup for the Soul took over Crackle. Treatment of the customer is poor, support is poor. It all seems designed to squeeze every last penny out of Crackle until they sell it or put it out to pasture because no customer is going to put up with this with better ...much less intrusive options out there (some free). Bottom line recommendation: if you can watch it anywhere else...choose that other option. If you can’t but have other things you would like to watch...watch those other things while you wait for this content to appear somewhere else. If you absolutely must watch something only available on Crackle now...do so but prepare yourself fir repeated ad blitzes and then move on to something not Cracke as soon as possible. There is no way Crackle is viable fir long in its present form.
