App content good / App execution terrible – Storm Radar: Weather Tracker Review

I really enjoy this app. It provides a lot of useful data and the “future radar” (which I believe is a presentation of the latest HRRR model runs) is also very helpful for planning purposes. I have no issue with some of the features being behind a paywall. That’s the developer’s prerogative to do this. What I do take issue with is how poorly this app runs. I have never experienced an app on iOS that runs so badly, on both my iPad and my iPhone. The app frequently freezes and I need to “swipe it away” and restart it from scratch to get it to keep working. Today, the “conditions box” at the top right (when viewed on iPad in landscape mode) went transparent and became non-functional. Had to swipe and restart the app for that, too. For a technology company such as IBM/The Weather Company to put out such a badly implemented app (from an execution standpoint) is both mysterious and inexcusable. This is particularly so since they hope to have people pay for this app. Spend some time re-writing the underpinnings of this app, IBM. We know you have it in you.
