Like it so far but... – NerdWallet: Manage Your Money Review
I like the app overall so far. It’s clean and fairly intuitive but there are some features I find lacking in the cash flow trackers.
1) How is there not a cash flow category for student loans/ education expenses in this day and age? That seems like a huge oversight.
2) There’s no categories for dependent care (furry or human) so vet expenses get classed under healthcare and daycare/school tuition gets listed as “other”.
3) I like the bill feature but I think it would be improved if you could identify multiple instances of a bill (like an electric bill) and have it keep a running average. Also, when you expand the details for a transaction, there should be an option to make it a recurring bill rather than the app picking a handful of transactions it thinks are bills and asking if you’d like to make them bills. It seems anything not on that list has to be entered as a bill manually which is annoying.
4) I don’t see a search feature in the transactions. It would be nice if you could search a keyword and group those transactions into a bill or spending category. As an example, renting a video from Prime gives a unique transaction ID every time, but they all start the same. Being able to search that initial starting string and applying a label would be really helpful to tracking spending in a particular area.
5) Custom labels in the cash flow would also be nice.
Other than that it’s a neat little app and I like it. It could definitely be more functional though with a few tweaks.
